Actually, Maiyan sing better than Nanase, imo. I love Nanamin, but i can't help my self to blame her because she make her duet with Maiyan so hurtful to hear.

You can barely even hear her in that duet with Nattsun.

I enjoy Tomu's singing, particularly her dark vocal timbre. Her biggest problem, imo, is not tone deafness but a lack of confidence, which keeps her from putting enough force into her vocals and thus sometimes missing the notes or blending into the background. E.g. when she was singing 365 nichi no Kami Hikouki on AnDare. At first you can't even hear her over the backing track, but as other girls join in she gains confidence, and towards the end you can actually hear her voice and she's doing well. She's been taking voice lessons recently, so that's improving, but she does still have a long way to go.

And... have a Maeshika Mukanee.

 

I ended up changing Maiyan after listening her more (and yes, I agree...Nanamin is the one who messes with the duet actually); I added Kitarie who I forgot to, and even if I love her (with some of the girls I listed) her voice not so much.

Some of you guys just have no idea To be fair, it's pretty hard to judge who's actually terrible at singing when they sing live so seldomly.

I recall an interview with a sound tech saying that he had to stop every single line and wait for Paru to get it right during the recording of Douki, but I haven't actually heard her sing live to judge Strictly from a "can they stay on-key" standpoint, (TA)Yui, Sasshi, and Shinoda Mariko are all objectively quite fine, even if their voices are subjectively not the most pleasant to some. On the other hand we have Tomochin, Sae, and Takamina as notables from the 48g who struggle to stay on key. Acchan just has terrible breath control and runs out of stamina too easily, last I saw her those were her issues For not being picked for singing talent most are at least passable even if they'll never be good, but the ones I listed are the only members I can recall who made me cover my ears and pray for it to be over.

1. Suda Akari (just no I get that she wants to sound "cute" but there's a limit to it. Dasu and Kaotan's duet on AKB Show, to this day, is still disgusting imo)

3. Kato Minami (I think that HKT vs NGT show left the biggest impression on me of Katomina's singing)

Sae is obviously my gal but even I wouldn't care if someone put her in their worst 10 because she is NOT a singer, though I respect her for working pretty hard to be marginally good.

The "rules" for this countdown in ForrestFuller's intro post specifically said not to be defensive in this case and let people say their opinion, so. I mean with the Tomu stuff too....

That's not what it says though. Respecting people's opinion doesn't mean not commenting on it whatsoever. It does mean not belabouring the point or dragging it out in a long and vociferous argument and derailing the thread, but I don't see that happening here (yet).
