-There is also a camera following them, suspecting it might be for documentary.

    Q「今後のSTUの選抜の選考基準は?」
    A「握手券の売上が重要。もちろんそれだけではないが、ウエイトは大きい」
    推しを選抜に入れたければヲタクはお金を使いましょう。

    Q. What will be the standard for choosing senbatsu in the future?
    A. It is important to be able to sell HS tickets. Of course not just that, but it weighs in a lot.

When the oshi gets in senbatsu then the otaku's are willing to spend their money

Funny how management is saying that they choose Senbatsu based on HS when they are not even giving the girls an equal opportunity to get themselves out there. Some girls are not selected for both Setouchi no Koe and the first single yet they expect them to sell out/a lot. Plus, they don't even have any activities to promote the girls. SRs are useless because fans are more attracted to someone who they've heard of and not enter some random girl's broadcast. If Yumirin wasn't the center and getting promoted everywhere, she honestly wouldn't get the popularity she has right now. Sure, her SRs are fun and interesting but no one would know that if she didn't get her name out there by management. Same with Fuuchan. If it wasn't said that Fuuchan is Shuu's sister, she wouldn't get the popularity she has right now too. I bring up these two examples a lot not because I have something against them. It's because it's the truth.

    Sorry for the rant(?)

On the contrary, SR denizen has accustomed to farm the stars used to support their girl by entering some random broadcast, even the non-48G one. Hence, SR are not entirely useless.
I mean, Just ask Ishida Minami how far her SR carry her without Setouchi no Koe. STU still attract lots of curious(potential) new fans, afterall.

Sure, you enter random SRs to accumulate stars but are you staying long enough to see what the girl has to offer?

Not always, but sometimes. Just like a girl might be in an mv but it doesn't necessarily mean you take the time to find out more about her afterwards.

For example, there are a lot of NGT girls who wouldn't have been known if not for SR. Rikachan wouldn't have reached this kind of popularity as fast as she did without it. It might not help all the girls, but doesn't hurt them for sure.

One of Kaho's fans got 100 tickets split in all dates, one of Harurun's fans got 300 tickets. Happy that Kaho got good movement, not only those lining for her but also there were lots of people who had bought tickets for others and dropped one ticket for her. They might not repeat later, but add to the overall movement. The SR buzzword helped them all, Akarin, Harurun and herself.
