I dont know why are people expecting Tomu being in the senbatsu to begin with, she pulled out of SSK midway and her rank was basically the only reason they included her in senbatsu in the past

 

So, I don't know where to ask it, so, I will ask here: what's with that center competition thing? It just reminds me of Wake Up! Girls' I-1 Club parody.

AKB teams are looking... stacked right now:

Promoted + Bound KKS + Draftees = Total

With the Team 8 kennin:
A: 22 + 4 + 3 = 29 members
K: 25 + 1 + 6 = 32 members
B: 25 + 2 + 5 = 32 members
4: 25 + 2 + 5 = 32 members

Without the Team 8 kennin:
A: 12 + 4 + 3 = 19
K: 13 + 1 + 6 = 20
B: 15 + 2 + 5 = 22
4: 12 + 2 + 5 = 19

Which makes me wonder if the Team 8 kennin are just a placeholder to fill in gaps while they audition/train KKS.
The Okabe captaincy tells me it isn't, because what would be the point, but... wow.

Still, the bound KKS and Draftees are not going to appear in songs/PVs until they are promoted, and many girls might graduate before that happens, so the numbers will fluctuate a lot, so I doubt we'll ever see team songs with 30 girls.

No 17th gen in 2018, that's for sure.

 

Actually I'll just laugh if they ever make a team songs in near future. The screentime just wont get all.

And they gonna lost hefty some in 2018, especially after competition kicks in. That's for sure.

 

Yeah, no need for 17th gen for now seeing the amount of girls AKB has right now but it is in anticipation of future graduations so I guess AKB will be alright for the rest of the year.

The draft girls will probably be KKS for at least a year or so or if management cares about them after some time. It's more to fill up the stages more than anything and less of the PV appearances.

Well one less thing to complain about is lack of new blood. But now we got a new thing to complain about is teams being overly stacked yay Chapter 3 woot

That's not chapter 3, like more chapter 4 or 5 to me.

I mean, chapter 1 was 10 years of AKB, and chapter 2 only 2 years? LOL

To me, AKB chapters are like:

CHAPTER 1 - 2005-2009 till the first sousenkyo (the first AKB days)

CHAPTER 2 - 2009-2012 till Maeda Atsuko graduates (AKB reaches the top)

CHAPTER 3 - 2012-2015 till Takamina graduates (AKB golden era)

CHAPTER 4 - 2016 - till now ...(the start of the decline and a new road for new members)

 

I actually see this as the third.

Chapter 1: 2005 - 2012
The beginnings, the uphill battles and the climax at Tokyo Dome with Acchan leaving.

Chapter 2: 2012: 2017
The transition, the graduation of the old guard and the rise of the new generations.

Chapter 3: 2018 - ????
The new generations try to keep the flame alive?

I am not complaining.
But if teams over 20 are rare, much rarer are teams over 30 lol

I'd rather have those extra members be Team 8 girls than random pushed SG ones anytime tho.
But can you imagine a performance with all of them if nobody graduates by the next anniversary?

 

It's pretty debatable and there's lots of room for discussion in this topic (It's interesting). And I understand where you guys are coming from. But general consensus of fans and members see it as chapter 3 so I'm just going with that.

Chapter 1 - 2005~2011 Beginnings

Chapter 2 - 2012~2014 Golden age

Chapter 2.5 2015~2016 Slope

Chapter 3 - 2017~ A new hope/transition

I'm pretty sure this year there will be tons of graduation. STU is already ahead of the game.

 

Members officially talked about chapter 2 when Takamina left the group. Chapter 3 is a term used by some fans but none of the members has talked about this being the start of "third chapter". For example, I am against this being the start of the third chapter cause it's no sense to me having a first chapter from 2005 to 2015 and a second one only from 2016 to 2017 where nothing relevant to the group happened.

Since there's no "official" sequence of "AKB chapters" that's still chapter 2 until the members will start talking about a third chapter in the future... but to me I prefer to have a different personal prospective (Acchan and Takamina graduations have both been obvious turning points to the history of the group for me)

 

I feel like the end of chapter 1 was Acchan’s graduation. It was truly significant as Acchan was the center of the entire AKB. The end of chapter 2 is probably the graduation of Takamina and AKB being led by Yuihan, our new soukantoku. I would say we’re in chapter 3 as nothing really happened and things have stayed the same after the takeover. It’s just new blood centers every once in a while.

It was a really interesting topic in matome back then. But like I said, there's actually lots of room to discuss. And I am actually interested in what people here thinks.
