I can't imagine what's going to happen to 48G and Sakamichi groups if Aki-P dies for any reason.

I can guess. As for the jobs we know he does:

If he really does have people ghostwriting his lyrics (sometimes the only thing that makes a song interesting since there's no budget in the videos anymore and half the songs end up with forgettable music) then that part would stay ok, but if he actually writes all these lyrics himself then it's gg for that aspect.

The general sound of the songs might change as he wouldn't be on the panel for choosing them anymore. We might see different member pushes if the agencies feel they have free rein without a big-name check in place.

The 48/46G is well-established in the industry and a household name by now, but it's foreseeable that the slow dwindling of his influence and industry connections would see the groups also slowly die off. They are intrinsically tied to his venerable name, after all - "Produced by Akimoto Yasushi" is one of the only things the general public might know about the 48G. Perhaps competitors in the industry would see it as a perfect time to launch an offensive, too.

But who knows, really? Maybe everything would continue as normal and there wouldn't even be a difference.

wow, so many idol groups broke up this year (including some major ones like Passpo and Babyraids Japan)

on the other hand, Yasusu's family just keeps growing...

Yasusu should make a break for it before Antimonopoly Committee will take action

@fatrain Thanks for letting us know that Babyraids Japan has announced their dissolution. They aren't done yet though; their last concert will be September 24 (and the announcement was just last week) and they will be at JAM Expo on August 25 along with AKB48. I put more details in their thread.

I guess the market finally saturated. Too many groups with the same target. It was bound to happen sooner or later...

I do have to agree. The 21st century idol market has gone a little bit too far. Had that thought of oversaturation as well.

Every year I see the artist list for TIF and I’m just blown away by the amount of idol groups in Japan. It almost feels as if there are more idol groups in Japan than there are rock bands in the US.

    New Group

Mr. Yasushi Akimoto , a comprehensive producer who has produced a number of popular female idol groups such as the AKB 48 group, Nogizaka 46 · Keyakizaka 46 hill slope series, can now handle idol girls band of "member selection system" I got it on the 3rd. Recruitment of the first grader audition starts today on the 4th. I plan to debut next spring, and aim for "national idol girls band".

Entry qualifications are women aged 12 to 19 years old (as of the end of March 2019) nationwide, with no experience of music and musical instruments. As the audition notice image, six kinds of handwritten flyer-like visuals that can take home their old-fashioned contacts are released, and [Play a dream well! "People who want to meet celebrities" "Who wants to become an idol" "Person who wants to marry IT president" from royal copies such as "I want to live at Budokan". "Romance OK" is also written clearly.

The buta sure gets tired of his new toys pretty fast, huh?

Too bad that when he forgets about the rest, he leaves everything to the care of people even more incompetent than him, the kind of which I wouldn't even let them handle a birdhouse.

Sorry for getting salty now but looks like it's his attempt to make Sayaka still work under him and the reason why there's no love ban law is because looks like Sayaka is already considering marriage but ............

Note: We are getting tired of seeing the repeated use of the term "Aki-Pig" and similar insults. I told people to stop using it a couple years ago, and now it has resurfaced. It is old, insulting, and not really funny to begin with. So please knock it off.

Akimoto's band will sign to Warner?

Would they be managed by Amuse like Babymetal & ONE OK ROCK? This agency is affiliated to Warner Japan.
