Well, congrats to former Hiragana and best of luck to Hinatazaka46 (no way I'm gonna remember it anytime soon :^^;:)
It probably means I'll never get my Techi-Memi unit but it was a move we all expected. Hopefully we can drop 48 collabs now in favor of a Sakamichi All Stars
The only bad thing is that I'll have to endure 2 Senbatsu, which I'll never like

Congrats girls for your debut single!!!:cute: Finally!
Sad to see them changing the group name. Don't now if this is good or bad. (because they worked 3 years as Hiragana and now Hinatazaka) But I Love the group color!!!:inlove::inlove::inlove: Matching the girls!!!

Both @Xiphyas and lots of Japanese comments say the name sounds good in Japanese. The meaning is great: sunny (sun-facing, sunny place, etc.). Happy aura in the sun. With the group colour the colour of the clear sky. The kanji are simple and strong, it seems to me: 日向坂. Good image (literally 'sun-facing slope').

One of the news reports points out that the actual place in Tokyo is usually pronounced Hyuugazaka...but my source says it can also be pronounced Hinatazaka. I'll go with unique: their own personal pronunciation.

If they change the show name, I hope they also make the farewell episode, much better if they can make it into dokkiri like Nogidoko ep 179.:D

So from the Keyaki singles after Black Sheep onwards, we will see a drop in Keyaki sales? Cuz they basically lost 30-40% of handshakes?

    Keyaki is dark

    I wish Hinata is brighter

Also TBH I didn't enjoy any Keyaki song since Futari Saizon so hope Hinata first single impresses me

It was kinda teased, but still kinda shocking to me heh.
I expected maybe “only” a single, but this is so exciting!

    Welcome,

I am actually surprised they had the balls to separate Hiragana from Keyaki knowing they bring a good chunk of the sales, but I'm so happy that they have.

    Time to truly shine, Hinata!

^They shouldn't be worried about sales when they have a solid 2nd gen and will probably increase 1st gen's slots, 7-800k finish is still amazing lol

I'm glad Hiragana girls finally get their debut single! They can finally experience music shows and having since they're a 'new Sakamichi group' their debut will be watched closely, so I'm expecting success regardless! 2019 is really gonna be Sakamichi's year huh

Congrats on being reborn as new Sakamichi sister group! They deserve all the spotlight! The new name and the color fit them really well and hope they will do better on their debut.

Finally! Now they don't have to be second class citizens within a group, they're a whole group of their own

If Keyaki sells, let's say, about a million with Hiragana, and let's make a totally wild guess and say 700k without Hiragana, but Hinatazaka sells 500k, that's 200k singles more being sold. Sony isn't stupid ;) Even if for the next year or so we see a drop in profit, in the long term it's a win.

Edit: also, they don't exist only to sell singles. Concerts, TV appearances, magazines, acting… there are a bunch of revenue streams for an idol group. Hiragana had a pretty decent track record already, but maybe as a separate group it would be easy to promote, especially for the general public. With their own singles out and their faces in posters etc, there should be more demand.

Well I'll help you out with a list of threads to move to ‘Hinatazaka46 News and Releases’ :D newest to oldest because I'm lazy:

Exactly. Now it's a chance for Hiragana girls to break out and build recognition for themselves. It's 100% a win for the Hiragana members and almost certainly an overall win for Sony.
