    The 2018 Stage48 Member Ranking

Stage48's annual ranking to determine who was the most popular member among the international community is once again back! With the absence of the actual AKB48 Sousenkyo this year rankings like this have extra weight! Could this ranking become this year's most definitive source of 48 and 46 group popularity? Probably not, but it'll be good fun either way. This year I'm taking over for @ithebigc and its my first time so feel free to point out any mistakes I make.

For those new to this, this event works by consolidating the personal member rankings of everyone that decides to participate to find who our most popular members in the 48 and 46 Groups are. You will need to rank your favourite members, so get working on your Top 20!

This is a point system with your oshimen/#1 getting 15 points, your 2-oshi getting 10 points, and so on. I will then add up all the points each member got from ALL people who voted on the forum and rank them in order, all the several hundreds of them.

    Code:
    01. MEMBER NAME (+15)
    02. MEMBER NAME (+10)
    03. MEMBER NAME (+9)
    04. MEMBER NAME (+8)
    05. MEMBER NAME (+7)
    06. MEMBER NAME (+6)
    07. MEMBER NAME (+5)
    08. MEMBER NAME (+5)
    09. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    10. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    11. MEMBER NAME (+4)
    12. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    13. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    14. MEMBER NAME (+3)
    15. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    16. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    17. MEMBER NAME (+2)
    18. MEMBER NAME (+1)
    19. MEMBER NAME (+1)
    20. MEMBER NAME (+1)
You can also give negative points to up to 5 members. These negative points are completely optional and you can submit any number from 0 to 5, with the member you dislike the most getting -5 points. If you only give negative points to one member, that will be -5 points, if you have two members you dislike they will be -5 and -4 and so on. I want to stress that these should be used only if you really have a personal reason for disliking a member, not just because they're at the bottom of your ranking or because of some boneheaded management decision completely out of their hands.

    Code:
    01. MEMBER NAME (-5)
    02. MEMBER NAME (-4)
    03. MEMBER NAME (-3)
    04. MEMBER NAME (-2)
    05. MEMBER NAME (-1)
Once again, we'll be using @foodlfg's program to help count the votes, now updated with the members who were active in 2018. Please thank him, as his program allows us to get the results out so much earlier without having to handcount all the votes. As ithebigc did, I still plan to look at each ranking personally, checking to make sure the ranking follows the rules, was submitted by someone eligible, etc, so with this mix of automating and personal oversight, we're confident we can bring you the same high quality results as in previous years, just faster. Please also thank @ForrestFuller once again for his hard work in assembling a full list of the members are eligible. Both of these users started work early in the year and should be commended for their dedication.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Voting Period
    6 June 2019, 10:00 am (JST) - 19 June 2019, 11:59 pm (JST)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rules/Directions
    1. All members with 100 posts and above can participate. This post requirement is in place to prevent people from making multiple accounts to vote (we can track that anyways) but also to make sure the people voting are actively involved in the fan community and know the members of the 48 Group well. Ideally, if you're giving members points, there was some facet of her personality that you liked, and you would've liked to discuss on our forums to learn more about her before you decided to support her. If you do not have 100 posts yet, there is still time until the deadline. Don't spam the forums to get 80 posts though, those posts will be deleted.

Anyone caught using multiple accounts will have all their accounts temporarily banned as well as a permanent warning issued to both accounts, unremovable by anyone except staff. Even if you have multiple accounts, don't use them to cheat this.

    2. Send me a private message (PM) with the two above forms with the point values assigned to each member. You can do so by clicking my username to the left and then "Start a New Conversation." The list of eligible members is listed below in the 2nd post which includes all members that were active at some point in 2018. Use full names, last then first! I don't know everyone's nickname and we will be using a program to count the votes so they need to be exactly as written in the second post.

    3. Once I have received your votes, I will add them to the program I am using to count votes, and your name will appear in this OP. If you send it to me and you don't see your name yet, don't panic, it simply means I haven't gotten to it yet. All votes received before the end of the voting period will be counted.

    4. Do not reveal your rankings until the whole contest is over. It's more interesting to see final results without knowing what everyone voted for.

    5. You must use all 20 spots. There's hundreds of girls, I'm sure you can pick 20 you like. Negative votes, however, are optional.

    6. Doublecheck your ranking before sending it to me, making sure you didn't accidentally give two people the same spot or give the same member two different values. Last year I had to spend way too much time contacting people to fix their ranking and waiting for them to respond. If you copy and paste the format in this post, you'll be fine.

    7. Members with three or more warnings on their accounts from 2018 will have their entry disqualified.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For examples, please see last year's thread and results. Please represent your oshimen and other favourites and vote! Anything can happen in these rankings; remember, 1 point separated Sayanee from Mayuyu and Naachan in 2015.

Results will be revealed over a period of days just like the past years to make it more exciting. The timetable will be posted once the results are in and I know how many girls ranked and how many remained out of ranking. Even with the vote-counter, don't expect them immediately. I'll want to confirm things and format the posts, etc. They'll be out when they're out. I promise to hurry.

Any questions or comments, leave them here and feel free to start the discussion!

FAQs/Notes (mostly unchanged from previous threads)

    1. How do I indicate which Yokoyama Yui or Sato Shiori I want to give points to?

If you only put Yokoyama Yui, I'm going to assume you're voting for our soukantoku. If you want to vote for Team 8's Yokoyama Yui, please put Yokoyama Yui (Team 8).

Similarly, if you only put Sato Shiori, I'm assuming you're voting for Keyakizaka46's Sato Shiori. If you want to vote for Team 8's Sato Shiori, please put Sato Shiori (Team 8), if you want to vote for draft kenkyusei Sato Shiori, please use Sato Shiori (KKS)

    2. Do I have to include the point values next to each member when I submit my list?

Yes. It just makes it easier to eye when I'm looking at the ranking to see if you're missing anything or put something in the wrong place.

    3. How do I check how many posts I have?

Just click your username or go to your profile. Your number of "Messages" is your posts.

    4. Can I change my ranking after I've submitted it?

No. Once it's counted, that's it. You have 2 weeks to come up with your Top 20, if you're unsure about it you can take the time to decide before submitting. There's no need to rush.

    5. Why isn't my username in the OP yet?

I still haven't counted your ranking yet. As long as you submitted your ranking within the voting period, you're fine though.
Since it's the final day: If you submitted a vote and your name isn't added to the bottom of the OP after a few hours, contact me immediately.

    6. What happens if you discover a mistake in my ranking but only after the voting period ended?

That's fine too. Again, as long as you submitted on time your ranking is guaranteed to be counted unless you broke one of the rules or you're a duplicate account, in which case you'll be banned for a while. If there is a problem, I'll PM you and give you time to fix it as long as you submitted before the deadline.

    7. I found a mistake in your member list/Someone who was active in 2018 wasn't included/Someone who wasn't active in 2018 was included!

Please let me know immediately! I'll need to amend it before anyone else votes using the wrong list then.

    8. Where are the China groups?

Due to their break from the 48 Group, they are no longer eligible for this ranking.

    9. Why is IZ*ONE here?

For starters, ithebigc wanted them in. He made strong arguments that their connection is strong enough to count them as an offshoot. But I had already planned to include them since they have 48G members in them and I see the group as a collaborative subunit. Plus it's only a small group.

    10. Hinatazaka46 and Team TP are missing

This ranking uses the rosters from 2018 so Hinatazaka is still Hiragana Keyaki and Team TP is still TPE48.

*To be updated as questions come in

Hi guys. This year I'm taking over for ithebigc. He's busy with his work life so I asked if I could run the ranking this year before it gets any later. Hopefully, now that the organisation of the ranking has been democratised you can look forward to it being held at the start of the year like it is intended to be.

This is the 2018 ranking and previously members were instructed to only take 20xx year events into account for their ranking. While I have continued the tradition of only including members/groups who were active during the time period, I'm not expecting anyone to follow that instruction.

Basically because (1) it's been nearly half a year since 2018 and I can't remember what happened early this year/late last year at all. And (2) because I don't think it's reasonable to expect people to adhere to that when ranking their NGT favourites, to be absolutely frank.

Please post sorters if you have them.

Remember not to spoil your rankings until the results are revealed but feel free to discuss anything else related to the event in this thread.

I had given up on this happening for this year. And I am flipping swamped with this current job. June 19 deadline is questionable, for me. :/

Yeah, I can see why ranking so many members might take a lot of time. You might consider just editing your previous one (assuming you participated). It might not give as good results as making one from scratch but it's better than nothing if you really don't have time.

It's already mentioned in the FAQ but the ranking is for the 2018 roster so chances that happened in 2019 aren't reflected. They'll be their own group in next year's ranking.

I did not. Because I forgot work. And because of it a certain member was lower than she would have been, in her last year of eligibility. :cold:

I have been known for the odd minor miracle. And being an insomniac has it's uses from time to time.:^^;:

I missed out on last year due to not having 100 posts back then, so I am glad I can finally participate. My ranking compared to 2017 has changed a lot, though, as I dived deep into the Team 8 variety shows and got to know many of the 16th gen and 3rd drafts.

That said I had a super hard time to cut down the list to only 20 members, I like so many of them. :^^;:

I was thinking about this like only yesterday, iirc it was mentioned last time that 2018 ranking will be held much earlier this year.

Anyway mine was pretty easy since I went all purple. I would have voted for two graduates from the other group but chose not to. Only took time in deciding which members to put after I'm done with my 12 just to fill the 20 slots. I'm sure most on my list will be revealed early on but maybe, just maybe, one Sakamichi can enter top 3 for the first time.

I know this was inherited from the previous one, but this is completely backwards. Team 8's Sato Shiori is the original, and thus the one the wiki doesn't use a descriptor for:
    http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php/Sato_Shiori
    http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php/Sato_Shiori_(Keyakizaka46)
    http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php/Sato_Shiori_(AKB48)

She also massively outranked the Keyaki one last year (86 vs. 230) so I don't see what argument there could possibly be for not making her the base Sato Shiori.

I didn't even think about it, I just accepted ithebigc's prior decision.
I figured unless it was a rather serious mistake like a name was wrong, I'm not in a rush to change things. Some people could be using their rank from last year or the year before and I don't want to potentially impede anyone for such a small issue.

That's also why there's still a girl called "Homma Hinata" in the roster. *Shudders*

That's the official (and correct) spelling.

Sure. There's examples of Honma in official work and I'm pretty sure there's no official guide to n vs m in romaji but I won't argue about correctness.
I will argue that the spelling Homma is horrible, though.

Okay can this be the last post in this thread about romanisation preferences? If you want to argue about this PM me or something. Otherwise you can find me in Gumma, eating samma while watching Ampanman.

I'm just wondering, will the votes be counted with a program or it will be counted by someone? Because if it's with a program then does the spelling matters? I ask since I see that on the list, there is Gyouten Yurina (spelled like this) but her name is written as Gyoten Yurina in most other places. I just want to make sure that all votes will be counted even if someone use the other spelling?

Hi, from the rules, bullet point 2:
So just copy the names from the second post, even if it's not your favorite spelling.

Thanks @Lusankya! I swear I thought I read the whole text but I guess I missed some parts LOL.

Well then I guess it's too late for this year, but hopefully next year I think it would be good to use the most known spelling. Her stage48 thread, her wiki48 page, and even AKB's official japanese site write her name as Gyoten Yurina. I think it's the official one at this point LOL but yes it's too late for this year since some people sent their votes already. it would be nice to change it for next year ;)
