^ Probably to deter piracy outside of Japan. Hopefully it comes out as soon as possible (no earlier than next Friday; hopefully by then).

What about Hinatazaka's doremi? Still not available outside of Japan yet?

At the beginning of the MV, you see alot of people walking among the girls. Look closely and you will notice that there are only women, and no guys at all. Why is this so ? Is it meant to represent the women of Japan ? :hmm:

Just look at the title: it is meant for women.

I wonder if anybody's nerd enough to compile some sort of metrics on idol HS result. Like sort through the data for find some meaningful number to measure their popularity. Something to quantify their idol-ness. Sometimes I think of crazy things. Nerds, begin your computing!!!

Its not really need much of number / ratio or etc to gauge the popularity. because you can gauge it by yourself by seeing which round (members) went sold out.

technically whoever sold out in 1st and 2nd round have a slight edge from the rest. coz 1st and 2nd round you can apply 3 tickets per block (1st round) and 5 tickets per block (2nd round). while starting from 3rd round you can apply 10 tickets per block and the later round you could apply for 15 tix per block. note also that repeated order are able with some amount of maximum tickets on specific sales round.

then you have some girls who sells almost nothing on the earlier round but suddenly sold out in the 4++ round / start selling out some slots atm, its still pretty much okay too. but these girls maybe wasnt the top priorities for the majority of fandoms because if you have favorites who sold out in 1st/2nd round. you’re going to all in your chances to applying these girls first. but ofc there’s a case your #2 or #3 oshii are too popular so you need to apply them first instead your #1

knowing this, can tell that whoever sold out in 1st/2nd round were the girls with the highest demand comparing the rest. tbh sold out in 2nd or 3rd round maybe not really far away somehow. but according to my own experiences,my average tickets for mizuki (sold out 2nd round) is less than 10 for every single release while usually i could won more than 15++ for miona / maichun (sold out in 3rd round) so yes, thats why i think whoever sold out 1st/2nd round have a slight edge due to high gap for maximum tickets ballot.

at the end there’s another way to gauge the popularity by seeing where did they stood on the national handshake events. its either solo / paired lane. tbh this is the easiest way imho. except from them who doesn’t do individual handshakes, all the popular girls will have solo lane while the rest gonna be paired with less popular girl. you can check the lanes when national handshake events going to happen anw on the nogi official website

You mean like data science, moneyball shit? That'd be pretty cool, but I wonder if there's enough public data out there other than sales.

Bingo. That's what I was going for, but you're right there really isn't much data there. Or is it we don't know how to quantify it yet? But @CrssA explanation is quite adequate enough, so I don't think diving into the data would be enlightening.

What I was thinking is the 'what ifs' and 'what happens' type scenarios that data like that could provide. Like, "What if Maiyan and the popular members still did IHS? How would that affect 3rd Gen and 4th Gen sales?" Questions of this nature. But I doubt there's data enough to support analysis at that level. I'm just nerding out about it that's all...

The most public data you can get is the social media. And Japanese have always big on social media, much far ahead from other early Internet civilization.

I think it'd be interesting to crawl the comments from Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other forum sites and mine the data.

It's likely Sony does use big data for analytics for business decisions. If they were to decide to open it for public, of course there is no incentive for it as of yet.

    Add:

If you have some basics of data mining, I think it'll be fun to crawl the Twitter or Instagram to mine people's reactions toward any news about Nogizaka.

I wonder who's gonna take over Reika's position. Renka, Momoko or someone else?
Nice performance btw. Quite a lively choreo.
