After years of Team 8, looking at their Twitter and Instagram followers and growth, handshake sales and so on, I've come to the conclusion that the best indicator of their real popularity is the number of views/hour of their SR streams. Everything else depends on many factors, including the stupidity of those sites, what they post, when were the accounts created, if they usually stream or not, etc.

It's a shame that their SR site only makes the average after 40 minutes of stream, but I understand why they do that: 40 minutes is the time after which the growth of views stabilize.

See it yourself and tell me if everything doesn't make sense, if it isn't how you imagine their popularity...

I wanted to look in that as well, but SR numbers are also hard to compare unless the girls stream at the very same time. You have different numbers by time, by day. And even then you need to account other things, like how often does she stream, did she advertise it, how much is she wearing etc. I agree the other sites are not less problematic, but 2 month frame is already a good way to eliminate most of the randomness. And some common sense is always needed...

fun fact: if you look at the SR event fan contribution rankings of the top members, Akarin's 1st place, 50th place and 100th place all have more points than Emily's 1st, 50th and 100th - yet there's several million points between them in favour of the latter. Now WHO is more popular?!

Also the question of where did fans of graduated members go! I know that nowhere, and I know that half of my jp eito wota twitter timeline has for some reason become full of underground idols... but still!

Actually, Emiri's case surprises me the most. Unlike Uuka, which has some solid reasons to make me expected she should do well (regular NMB Senbatsu + PD48 contestant), Emiri doesn't seem like she has those (at least from my perspective), yeah I know she's Team TII's captain, so
it might contribute to her in this event, but to surpass Rinrin and sit at the 1st place with 2 millions pt diff... how come? (No offense, just curious.:^^;:)

Or maybe it's same case as Mahopyon vs STU girls, an only participant from a group means it would easier for fans to concentrate points.

Yes, it depends on the hour and other things, but after all this time we already know how to filter the information on SR, while in other SNS it's always a bit... random. Probably not the best word, but random. I think that with time Twitter and Instagram numbers stop having a meaning, since many people follow just... because. If half of Sayanee's Twitter followers gave her just one vote, she would've won the Sousenkyo with 1.14 million votes. And I follow all eitos; does that mean I like them all equally? Take Sumire for example, she's now having lots and lots of new followers, but she started from nothing recently. It will come a time when there's no more room for such a growth.
With SR things are a bit different. You may like one girl but not following her SNS so much (like giving likes or retweets), but most wota pay close attention to SR, so if that girl logs in you will know and most likely open her stream. And the number of times one person doesn't even watch the streams of girls he is following on Twitter or Instagram is probably huge. What does that tell you?

HKT. When sister groups fans unite in these sort of competitions they have advantage over Team 8. Which reminds me that it's also easier for Sumire to suddenly have almost 50k followers while being in NMB than she would've have while being an eito, even if she was allowed to strip. It doesn't mean that she is more popular than many girls that have less followers than her, it's just how this works.

That's because you're following the wrong people... and idols... and the baldie with glasses.

All in all, Nonnon is just not popular.

I answered above. It reminds me of that seiyuu contest for the online game where Nagi was second. Piyosu won it with the power of SKE fans and Mita Mao third thanks to NMBs. When you saw the number of contributors, those two had a lot more than Nagi, that did more with less.

If it still a 5 or 6-way battle between the eitos on top, it will be difficult to come out on top. Though Berin still has her birthday coming. But I think it will still hardly enough to close 2M gap, hope I am wrong.

On the other hand, how come SKE hako wota not rallied behind Kitano Ruka yet?

I suppose for some, the Produce hype faded away.
As for Emiri, you can thank Komi 's support.
Though her 1st target was Hida Aya.
It looks like her fans are following more the 2nd advice.

in the end it's all about money. On the first day, Emily streamed only 35 minutes but she was in top 3. Her 100th place after first day was even lower than Hidaaya's 100th place! But she shot to the top and that motivates people to contribute more. The fact she's alone definitely helps as well. (The reverse applies for the girls below the line. I saw a guy who's 2nd in Ayaka's room contribution throwing 10x kuma to Nanase, even though until then he wasn't even in Nanase's top 100 event contributors. Rough.)
this is what you talk about - it is indeed simple to see who's who in the group
    スクリーンショット 0001-11-05 10.10.19.png
but then you want to compare Akari and Yurina and this is what you get - there's like nothing to grasp!
    スクリーンショット 0001-11-05 10.10.45.png スクリーンショット 0001-11-05 10.10.57.png
the thing is I don't unfollow them so it unfolds in front of my eyes. It's interesting to watch after all.
the top 2 seems decided as long as they have time on the last 2 days. The difference between the prizes is not that big so I'm not sure how wild will it get between them. The only way it gets wild is if Uuka gets a big push. They will pick one from 3rd-6th. I feel like they'd choose Berin even if she falls down. If it stays, they might logically choose the sole NMB instead of a second eito all the same.
There's not much hype about it, everyone's been very casual. Again, since she has not been close to the top, no one is really feeling like putting money into it. idk she was always quite divisive, they tried to make her happen in various ways and it never worked greatly.

Hidaaya's top 100 contributors, all of them, have more points than Ruka, yet Ruka is like 1.5 million points ahead of her and now overcame even Nanase. It's a large hako.

At this rate, she might even surpass Akarin and Maria...
