J-rock was my first taste of japanese music and I gotta say, the taste was brilliant. I have nothing to really do right now but to finish up a bunch of packets of work and a essay, so I'll post the names of the bands I listen to: Abingdon Boys School Alice Nine (I prefer their older stuff, but their new stuff is pretty cool too) Ayabie Dir en Grey Gackt (Not so sure about him being a band, but oh well) Gazette (First J-rock band I listened to and the band that got me started on this wonderful experience) Glay hide Janne Da Arc Judy and Mary Kagrra, L'arc~en~Ciel Luna Sea High and Mighty Color Malice Mizer Imitation POPS uchuu sentai NOIZ Sadie Sex Machineguns Siam Shade SID The Yellow Monkey Vidoll X Japan
Are you giving me a cookie for listening to Alice Nine or just because I like their older stuff better?
anyone still into x japan?? x japan is gonna perform @ - paris on july 5th 2008 place&time still undecided - New york september 13th 2008 madison square garden/ time undecided source: http://www.myspace.com/xjapanofficial
X Japan is one of the first j-rock bands/visual kei bands I've listened to. I'm starting to to listen to them again, especially watching Weekend from the last live. God, that performance was godlike. I'd love to go to the one in New York, but seeing that I live on the other side of the United States and school starting around that time, it's definitely a no.
(late reply because... well I wasn't here for the last 3 months or something ) This is something I want to talk about too, most of the people think something like: J-pop is girls, J-rock is boys, while that's very untrue... In fact the main problem I have with it is that people normally bind J-rock to only Visual Rock, and while Visual Rock is a substyle, they aren't really everything about it. Some Rock I love/like, with voices made by girls, that haven't been mentioned even once on this thread: GARNET CROW Kamiki Aya buriguri/Tommy Heavenly6 Eu Phoria (they're kinda popish too, but take Laruku as an example) Amano Tsukiko Aikawa Nanase Hoshimura Mai Maria Do as Infinity Mizrock ikimonogakari Shiina Ringo chatmonchy
^ Problem with Tomiko Van is that she hasn't had any releases since 2006, except her cover albums, which make me wonder if she's going to continue releasing stuff as solo... Amazing she is nonetheless.
i love L'Arc~en~Ciel i start notice them since they release the single called"Ready Steady Go" the melody is perfect!!
D's first single is awsome as expected I have addicted to the visual kei rock band - Versailles, after watching the hide memorial summit. They are so awsome because they got the HIZAKI and KAMIJO combo, great vocal follow by strong and smooth guitar solo. They are going to release the debut album - Noble, in July. If you don't know anything about them, you may listen to their debut single - The Revenant Choir http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5827EPsAOis Yes it is a full English song with two Japanese lines, but excellent Engrish listening skill is required to fully understand the lyrics.
Yep I think Jrock is everyones first step or introduction to Japanese music from movie and drama soundtracks. Personally it doesn't matter what language the lyrics are in as long as there's good solid beat and rhyme from instruments being actually played.
Yes I listened to the song, and I couldn't understand a word Kamijo sings until I read the lyrics. And I was shocked to realize that the whole lyrics is in English (yep with those two Japanese lines). I thought he sings in Japanese. Kamijo's English pronounciation is reaaally bad.
L'ARC FANS REJOICE!!!! NEW DOUBLE A SIDE SINGLE! NEXUS 4 / SHINE info from wiki: and the PV was just aired TODAY!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grXE0wQBMv8
