NMB Coming of Age Day Thread

For those unaware, Japanese tradition says that 20 is when a person becomes an adult. This is celebrated by a holiday (coming of age day) and is a day when the new adults go to the temple for a ceremony and then an afterparty with their friends. AKB has a tradition of going to Kanda Meijin temple and this year was no different.

What is special about this year, though, is the sheer number and star power that NMB provided. This is probably the strongest Coming of Age Day batch that NMB has had since the SayaMilky year.

Nagisa, Momoka and Riripon had the best goals.

Momoka "Make money easily"
Fuuchan "Improved my comedy and idol skills and get lots of work"
Nagisa "Become 180cm (6 feet) tall"
Riripon "Get a high score in Mahjong, get on Yahoo News and increase viewers to my show"
Akarin "Become a representative member of NMB"
Saepii "Appeal using my fashion sense"
Miiki "Learn how an adult woman talks and acts"
Shion "Make sure not to lose my passport again"
Yukichan "I am too juvenile so I want to become more of an adult internally and externally"

 

They all look so beautiful! I agree that this is such a strong batch of girls and I can't believe they're all 20/turning 20 now! Time flies, haha. I'm still conjuring up images of early era Fuuchan in my head.

 

I really find Shion's goal admirable, so I'm sad that she'll find out that the cruel world of adults still involves losing or forgetting things. Emichi seems to do this with her headphones daily.

This is a fantastic group, in some ways bittersweet seeing how quickly they've grown up. It's hard to believe Fuuchan in particular.

This seijinshiki is definitely a good one for NMB, I would've probably went if I lived in Tokyo or had a day off. I knew some people who were already camping there since sunday night before the handshake event was even over lol. It was such a crappy weather though, so RIP for those people who waited all night in the rain lol. It's a little disappointing they might not allow fans in the temple next year though~

But speaking of SKE, how did we not get a Jurina/Miiki two-shot at the ceremony?

There were just too many and Kanda Meijin is a small temple. There were dudes standing on the sacred rocks or something to get a view of the girls. They also skipped the fan greetings because of the rain so all-in-all it was a really crappy time for everyone.

I think it was also Murokana's as well? I think I saw a photo of her in a furisode but I could be wrong.

 

Ah, yes, you're right, it was! Instagram's feed setup is so maddening, I never saw her posts...

 

This is probably the NMB golden age right here. Next year has Miru as the headliner but thats as far as it goes.

 

By my count, we'll have Uuka, Naru, Coco, and Anchu in addition to Miru. It's a pretty light lineup.

 

Sounds like my type of seijinshiki!
