    First post! And here's why...

    Being a child of the 80's and 90's, Video Girl Ai was one of the first manga that I read through its entirety. Yes, it was a bit ecchi and weird, but it was intended for teenage boys. I actually liked the later short series of Video Girl Len and another series called I"s more; they were more straight forward and less ecchi. However, I think this series sort of became Masakazu Katsura's major breakout. An OVA anime and live-action adaptation were later made.

    One of the things that got me to read it was because my favorite Japanese pop singer/idol at the time—Sakai Noriko—was referenced in the manga and later sang the songs for the OVA. So for my present oshimen to be involved with Video Girl, it kinda feels like it's come full circle!

    However, I do agree that Moemi seem to be a more fitting role for Nanase' persona. Video Girl Ai was a damaged 'video girl', so she's feisty and tomboyish. I feel Ikoma would've been a much better fit. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone wants her to be the title character.

    I think Nanase's much more flexible than people give her credit for. Happy to see her branch out and hopefully fans will stop typecasting her.

    I keep reading Video Girl Ai but my mind keeps going to DNA^2. I know they're by the same person so that's probably why.

    Must be for the drama she’s in. Sadly it will be a while before we get to see Nanase in a ponytail unless she tries out the short nub ponytail that Hori pulls off on occasion.
