Exactly as a Dancer when you practice a dance over and over it becomes natural. Sometimes when I am dancing I end up day dreaming and thinking about something else, but I am still doing the dance correctly. The body remembers the dance moves overtime.

yes, but there is a constant repetition and constant repetition. Doing the same thing unmethodically over and over for hours has literally no positive effect. You could just build the memory much easier with mental practice/visualization or, well, sleep.

That is true. We don't really know how they train. We hear the horror stories but that usually from "nugu" groups with horrible companies that abuse them. For example groups like Twice practice sometimes for 3-7 hours before a comeback learning the dance together over the course of a week or two. They get time to eat, sleep, and relax. These girls will be treated rough for the show but after they won't have to suffer as much.

everyone learns in different ways and at different paces. just because the constant repetition way works poorly for some people doesn't mean that it won't work well for others. for those that aren't natural dancers/can't mentally visualize the repetition might be needed to develop the muscle memory.

just like any other naturally developed skill mental imagery can be widely different from people to people and is not as easy as just "well just visualize it no need to push yourself so hard"

I think nvmea point was more on the 2-3 hour of sleep than the constant repetition.
And let's be real, if you're sleepy and tired you won't get as much from practice, however you do it, than if you're well rested and able to be 100% focused on what you're doing.

Yeah, rest is crucial for LITERALLY everything.

If I sleep 3 hours one night, there is no way the next day I’m going to be a person. Much less a person with the willpower to learn anything.

It depends on the person. Sometimes I sleep four hours and then I can move mountains, but then again, if I keep that up for a few days, the fourth day I'm dead and not even a million alarms can wake me up. I don't think there is ever a right way unless you find a good balance. But for every person that balance can be so different...

lol, someone should hire sport medicine specialist and learning psychologist for P48. To prove all of your prediction with science. :hehe:
I think other sports already have the data of until what degree of repetition and exercise your body will remember the movement precisely. Try to ask the gymnast.

I'm on the rest enough side tho. But seeing them under stressful environment will put in some drama sauce in the show :^O^: and that is good.

the 4 hours of sleep or less thing comes from the idols mouth themselves
but it's just one of those dark sides of kpop you'll learn about by just being a fan

I would talk about SM artist, but i don't follow them and their lawsuit against their evil idol corp
I'm pretty sure they mentioned something about SM treating them like robot dancing dolls or something with very little sleep and such

I remember a very young Hyunah saying that she was happy that her manager let her sleep for 4 hours, this was before she became who she is now.

so 4 hours or less sleep is not bullshit afterall sadly

seconding this. i don't follow kpop much at all anymore but you'll regularly hear about idols being up in the practice room till like 3 in the morning, or getting up at that time and not for an one off location shoot. older idol groups are more likely to have time off but the new ones in the grind especially have it really rough, but to the point they don't even feel it's bad because they're so used to the awful schedule. most of the time when that stuff is mentioned it almost comes off as a joke because it's such a regular thing.

yup most kpop idols are being work to death example from what H.O(Madtown) said

H.O used the schedule of an idol at “Music Bank” as an example, because he said it’s the most tiring show to film. He explained that the reason is that rehearsals for “Music Bank” started at 5 or 6 a.m., with the show itself starting at 5 p.m. He later clarified that the schedule might be different now.

so yeah some idols have like schedule for a radio show at 10-12 pm then they sleep for like 2 hours maybe (more like a nap at this point though) then at 2 am they wake up and get ther make up costume done for 2 hours (it varies from group if they have many members then it takes at least 2 hours) after that they rehearse at around 5 or even 4 am

They should be filming tomorrow. It’s expected to come out sometime next week, likely next Thursday KST since that’s when Mcountdown airs

Being an idol is of course not some 9-5 job. It's erratic and it depends on the period. Usually, I see idols have 1-4 schedules a day. The promo period lasts like one month and then they have a couple schedules scattered after that, like radio appearances or music shows.

Music recordings are long but its also 75% waiting. They have a ton of artists to go through so it's more waiting for your 30 minutes of rehearsals/pre-recordings and actual recording than recording for 12 hours straight. Some very busy idols go to different schedules while waiting. Most top idols stop going to music shows after two weeks, once for the comeback week and second to sweep the awards.

Radio shows last one to two hours at most and air around 8pm-12am. Again, you have to be at least somewhat relevant to get air-time.

Music festivals are 2 hours long but they show up during rehearsals for a bit before going to different schedules in between and they perform their 10+ minute stage and dip right after. They pay a lot though, like $30-60k for the really popular idols.

Fansigns are 3 hours at most but sometimes the managers rush fans so they can finish in 1 hour or so. Popular idols don't do a lot after they start to sell well, maybe 3-5 during the promo period. Nugus probably do one every other day to try and increase sales *coughs* WJSN *coughs*

Most variety shows (exception of like Running Man, MuDo, 1N2D and etc) take around 3 hours. Girls Who Eat Well streamed the entire recording and it was about 3 hours long so considering maybe 1-2 hours of prep, it's 4-5 hours in total there. I think the worst show though is the ISAC. They record for like two days, its ridiculous and idols get hurt there too. Nobody wants their idols there but they're kinda forced to go there :(

I still think they're overworked but once the promo period is over, they have a few weeks of grace period and you'll see them go on V-Live (K-pop's SHOWROOM) or just hang around passing time until their schedules start getting packed again. Idols are desperate for busy schedules because they have so little time to make money if you consider the trainee debt. That's why even though they gotta suffer, they need the exposure and fans are happy when the idols are finally not jobless.

When they establish a big steady fanbase, they'll appear on TV less since they don't really need it and focus more on touring or whatever side projects they have for their own personal interest.

if the video does not show watch the video here
SM artists can dance like that^ tho

PS. There are 18 members there. AKB with a 16 nin senbatsu can't even dance half as well as them

I wonder if you have receipts of any 48 group achieving anything remotely like this. The closest I can think of is Must Be Now and even then, that line up is made up of 9 gifted dancers.

I think little sleep is inevitable on this type of show where they're learning new choreography so often along with everything else they have to do. In a perfect world they should be getting 6-8 hours of sleep but I think it's impossible if you actually want to master the choreography and be a top contender on this show.

You're basically running off pure muscle memory when you're in a high pressure situation performing on TV in front of judges and competing against others. It's not just about getting the moves down but also having high quality moves, accuracy, smoothness, perfect timing and being able to show off your personality.

You can't really work on any of these until you actually have the choreography down to muscle memory. Your mind can't focus on improving a move when you're thinking about what move to do next. Things like visualization can help you learn it faster but repetition is basically the only way to create the muscle memory.

NCT has been promoted with mainly hard dances(And BoB is literally just a dance track with minimal vocals/rapping that was performed back in 2016) and SM has always had hard dances + boy groups are always given harder dances than females

Besides 48 girls are given less than half the time to memorize a dance, NCT literally trained for 12 hours a day for a week or two before to memorize CB. Maybe if they were given more sleep they could've learned it in less?

Random comment but its cute how a lot of Kpop fans want to learn AKB’s system over at the other forums I go to, they genuinely want to understand even if they don’t have to xD
