Minegishi Minami (Miichan) / 1st Generation

yeah, me too .... but I would be hesitant to attend ... I'm not a student anymore, not for a long long time now ... and I don't think I can pull it off to try and look like a student

Band-maid performed in the Melkweg her in Amsterdam this month, and someone wrote on their fb page ... "I would like to attend, but given my age I might come off as creepy" .... that's the western wota dilemma for an old angry white male in a nutshell

(ok, I'm not angry ... well, not always )

 

Old Angry White Male here: just be creepy and go. I saw Band-Maid at J-Pop Summit in 2017 when I went to see Wasamin. I might not have been the oldest white guy there, but I was close. I had a great time.

[I know you were asking about Miichan and not Band-Maid, but the advice is the same. Could you pull off being a faculty member?]

 

Yeah ..... I think I'll be able to look the part .... the grey streaks in my beard add a touch of class
(ok, I would be more suited for a conference about computing ... I have that old Unix guru look locked down .... and I can speak the lingo as well )

I tried to get my team members to go to Band-Maid ... but sadly no takers, the lazy spoilsports :/

Yeah, that's why I used 'Oneechan'
And it might well be that Miichan spent almost as much (or maybe even more) time with Takamina and Nyan-nyan as with her siblings.
(which is still kinda funny as way back you could see that Nyan-nyan didn't really 'get' Miichan due to the age difference, see the making of Yuuhi wo Miteiru ka MV video?, Miichan playing kitchen with stones and leaves ... and Nyan-Nyan thinking "what kind of drugs is this little girl on" )

 

To be honest, I have to disagree .... Miichan never got screwed by management imho. this was after her traumatic 'haircut' incident, she was still officially a kenyuusei, and this was the same time she got reinstated as a full member and captain of Team 4 as well.
Did she ever get the push other members got? ... no ... but neither did 95% of the other members, and management still allowed her to find her own niche as a variety idol by being included in several Mechaike show, allowing a special about her at the sousenkyo, etc.
I think in the end Miichan was treated pretty well by management, and that's what partly triggers so many haters as some of them have had oshis in similar circumstances that graduated (either out of their own volition or forced).
The main problem with management is/was the lack of consistency in these kind of decisions, some people got a slap on the wrist ... other were kicked out. (was this driven by the relative importance of the member .... for sure, but it's still galling to the fans of the girls that got the short end of the stick)
