The lineup is brutal and considering there are still a lot of members I am missing it just shows how many great members they have.

Like many others have said in this thread, AKBINGO was a major factor in getting me interested in Japanese idols and to this day the variety shows are probably the part of idol culture I enjoy the most. I went from AKBINGO to NOGIBINGO to dozens of other shows so I really hope this is not really the end.

Thinking about this brought up a new somewhat worrying question though : what will happen to the ???BINGO! spin-off shows? If this ends up being some kind of renewal thing they might keep going but the shows share a lot of resources (studio, production staff, etc) so it seems pretty likely this will have an impact on them. They all run as 1-cour programs so HINABINGO!2 and AKBINGO! will end together with the summer season. Nothing has been announced for the fall yet but if I recall correctly the next shows have been getting announced just a few weeks before the end of the current season and this doesn't really mean much yet.

I miss Okamura's pranks... incidentally, I just watched the Mechaike Bakajo special yesterday. If anyone can recommend me anymore subbed pranks (besides the Takamina dating / AKB48 dissolution prank), I'd be grateful!

 

They announced it weeks before, all the idol-related press made articles about it, even Yuko made a statement, and you're still talking about a dokkiri?

Well... If they had only announced it a week before, hadn't had any idol-related press, and didn't have any big members make statements, they wouldn't be able to sell many people on it would they? I'm only half sincere, which is pulling the more dubious side along.

I went looking for all the subbed stuff I could find of theirs some time ago. Most of them have pranks involved but aren't prank-centric, particularly.
Yuko's Graduation special is good that @dutchie mentioned is great, the other episode they linked is really fun too. Lots of Lemon
there was a special investigation they did on Paruru which I really enjoyed
the sports festival @MondyofAus mentioned is good
they did a wrestling match with Yuihan, Kawaei and I think Shimada, nice background to Tofu Pro Wrestling
There's an SNSD special they did if you like K-Pop
They did Bakajo tests with Yuria once and another Kojiharu, Sayaka, and Sasshi also, those had other non-akb people in them.
Then there was a big not-AKB idol special where they had a ton of idol groups, SDN48 being one of them. That one is kind of depressing to me, tbh, because they talk a lot about struggling to make it and what not but it's still really good.
Then there was an Okamura dance marathon episode of a special from 2015 that someone subbed, AKB performed in it.
Finally, there was an episode I found a long time ago which was just a regular Mechaike thing where they did Battle Royale type deal. It was good.
All these are scattered here and there, you can find most of them on the masterlist but if you want one let me know and I can see about uploading it or something. I'm afraid I don't remember the links to the SNSD or Battle Royale episode anymore though :/

Yep that's the wrestling special, it's fun. I have friends who really like female Japanese Pro Wrestling, feels very similar to the real deal.

It turned out that there was a "yan ken po" championship that even Sata participated and whoever lost would receive a cream cakes.
