Kubochan's special edition is sold via online pre-order and the first batch was scheduled from July 30th (yesterday, Japan time) to August 9th. But due to popularity, the batch was sold out in less than a day. The second batch was originally scheduled from August 14th, it's now moved forward to start from August 1st (tomorrow). Another news is This event is back! Kubochan will appear at the opening ceremony for the match versus Saitama Seibu Lions on August 29th. OMG, without bang!!! i think japanese idols should really stop using bang for sometimes. they can be super pretty too with this hairstyle.
I think it is all because of the Japanese standard of beauty. They are admiring girls with a small face. And, bangs create a small and thin face effect/appearance. Furthermore, there is also a general opinion that a girl with bangs is cuter, innocent, and pure. And, guess what, Idol's definition matches with that. The truth is many Sakamichi girls don't use the hairstyle with bangs in their private time. They only use this style when they are working or in front of the camera. So, maybe, it is something like their effort or management rule(?) to fulfill the standard of a good Idol image and attract fans that already have the mindset that Idol should be cute, innocent, and pure. I saw a lot of their images on their blog or a snippet of their private time on TV, they didn't wear bangs at all. I also agree with you that, if these girls decide to leave their bangs, they can be super beautiful. Renka is an easy example. She used the bangs+antenna in her earlier day. But, when she changes her hairstyle into a more mature and bangs-less style, you can see that see turn into a freaking beautiful woman. Mayutan is another good example, and of course, "The Maiyan" as well.
And Hoshino Minami, probably the cutest Nogi member, doesn't have bangs since the beginning. Rentan still have bangs though, different type of bangs, a soft whispy bangs. I believe it's the trend as well. Many Nogi members used to have a thick bangs but now many of them switched to a whispy bangs. The truth is maintaining bangs is difficult and time consuming which is why they sometimes go bang-less during their private time.
i know that your 1st paragraph is the reason they keep the bang. because japanese men loves cute girl rather than beautiful/goddess-like woman. haha yes. that is why i love hoshimina. if im not mistaken, she did the twintail in early days but get rid of it pretty early and since then using more matured hairstyle. it is pretty rare to see cute idol like her to completely leave out the twintail.
