Yes, I'd need sponsorship first but that was already said by private.

On the other hand, please everyone join and/or spread the word:

    And to anyone in Japan:

    日本地震動物救援会 (JEARS)では、災害地で被害にあった動物のホストファミリーになって下さる方々を募集しています。興味をお持ちの方は、ご連絡お願い致します!

Japanese Red Cross Volunteers were collecting donations in town today near the station.

For a small donation, you could get one of the things that the volunteers are making, some origami and some calligraphy work made by one of these lovely ladies...
I got two blue origami thingies for my donation... although my crane didn't flap it's wings, it's okay because its for such a good cause...

    I wish I gave more...

I wish I emptied my wallet.

That's wat a lot of people think, and yet if everyone gave a little bit, all those little amounts become one huge sum. Imagine if 1000 people in the US were to donate as little as 20 dollars per person, that would make 20,000USD. A rough conversion into the yen would approximately build up to 1.6milYEN. There would definitely be more than 1000 people donating for this cause world-wide, and definitely more than 20 dollars each (on average).

This guy from my Jap Club held his own fundraising drive for the earthquake, although I volunteered to help out, I couldn't since I was stuck with a few assignments during that particular week. He sent us constant updates on the progress of his fundraiser and VERY surprisingly, he and the few people who decided to help out, had raised 5,000+AUD in 8 hours!! Comparing that with the 1500AUD the Jap Club has managed to scrape...:fp:

This is in AUD btw, and at the time of this post AUD>USD. But still using that rough conversion since I'm lazy, he raised 400,000+YEN in 8hrs with the help of only a few people.

What's the difference in the conjugation of 'Ganbare' and 'Ganbaro' for that video?

^Ah, thanks. I was worried that some of them had speech impediments or something that I had never really realized.

@Criss Good job! reposted the video in the AKB48 thread also just in case ppl aren't checking this thread as much anymore, since the more views, the better.

Just noticed after watching it again, all the girls saying "ganbare" are in DiVA (Sae, Sayaka, Umeda and Yuka).

The Japanese language reporting on that guy's story makes no mention of scuba gear, he just had a wetsuit, because he was a surfer. (Which actually makes him more of a badass, but it's worth noting since the story is being spread around the internet like wildfire...)

Blimey if it's all true then this fella deserves a medal or something, not just for the whole scuba rescue thing but going out day after day to try and find people
