16th is better than 17th. More exposure, more work, more everything.
If the question is which one is better, 32nd or 33rd... well, 33rd probably nicer.

Have you seen the last couple of elections?

Miichan, Haruppi and Kaotan looked sad/angry when they were called at 17th.

Haruppi was in tears last year, she knew it was a chance missed.

Then there was Akicha in 2012 who was distraught backstage.

@hotman Umechan mentioned in one of the documentaries exactly what they said earlier: being on Senbatsu gives you chances to appear on TV, more jobs and exposure overall, you are part of THE single and people may spot you.

    Predictions.
    1. Sasshi
    2. Yukirin
    3. Jurina/Sayanee (she said it would be her last Sousenkyo this year, but NMB has no strong representative atm, so...)
    4. Sakura
    5. Mion
    6. Yuihan
    7. Tomu (wishful thinking, we want to keep the trend of ranking higher each election).
The 8-16 spots can have Naachan, Komi, Sayaya, Haruppi as locks, the other spots can be rather surprising; I heard Churi may join as well so she can make a comeback this year as well. Taking out girls that won't join next year (Minarun, Annin, Miichan), the results might be interesting, but I don't think the first spots may change that much.

I think Umechan once said that the backrow of senbatsu is a lot better than center of undergirls, because you will get a lot more promotions & opportunities, like appearing in music shows, in the main PV of the biggest (AKB) single of the year, in news clips, etc.

@Berii Churi said it herself that she will join the sousenkyo next year, during her fanmeet back in November, alongside the fact that she wouldn't announce her graduation during her setansai.

Minarun said she won't run again?

With her resurgence in these last two years, I had her as a senbatsu contender.

If Churi runs she might indeed rank in again.

I think Sayanee will join. She cares about NMB, and leaving senbatsu without a Namba representative would hurt. If Shiroma ranks in as well this year, I can see her passing the baton and graduating soon after.

if Sayanee decides not to join the fandom will push a member who's close to joining senbatsu and that's Mirurun

If sasshi takes back what she said then her wotas will go to sakura since she's an hkt member and also in kami 7. We are expecting to see Sayanee vs Jurina but this girl sakura can surprise all of us.
Like what i said to other thread, 2013 SSK will repeated itself
As for upcoming & Future i expecting to see many NGT members (like mahohon, noepii, okappa & rikatan *she rank (#96) but outside of top 80) also many Team 8 members, their popularity is STILL RAISING!!
uhhmm i think next year will be HKT year many hkt babies will ranked. Maybe HKT wotas can block the strategy of SKE Wotas *but nope ;);)

Too lazy to name them all.

    Hopes

SYY: 21st or higher. I'm gonna vow something if Sayaya reach senbatsu, I'll unveil it after new year because I haven't even determined what I'm gonna vow.
MKRN: save in next girls, surpass Meru maybe?
    OGYK: Future Girls center

    Prediction:

    Yuria return to undergirls
    Mion to kami 7

    Prediction:
    • 4 senbatsu members (Suda Akari, Shimazaki Haruka, Kitahara Rie, KojiHaru) don't apply/graduated.
    • 4 UG members (Minegishi Minami, Iriyama Anna :(, Takayanagi Akane, Oba Mina) don't apply.
    • It's going to be a battle between Sasshi, Mayu and Sayanee for first. Sayanee is at her best chance of winning this year (album, kouhaku, etc.) so she could win because her fans are fired up. IMO she'll come short of winning to Sasshi and be very close to Mayuyu
    • Suda/Takayanagi don't apply, so SKE (incl. Matsui) have more votes than last year. Souda and Nao make Senbatsu
    • Sakipon/Aapon stay the same(ish)
    • Renacchi/Yuria fail to do well again
    • Hana-chan/Yuiyui/Rika debut in UG
    • Fukuoka Seina//Hiwatashi Yui rank in
    • Goto Rara/Noguchi Yume/Saito Makiko rank in
    • Murase Sae/Ichikawa Miori/Naiki Kokoro rank in
    • Watanabe Haruka/Yamashita Emiri/Murukawa Vivian rank in
    • Ogino Yuka/Yamaguchi Maho rank in (if Kitarie doesn't participate)
    1. Sashihara Rino (-)
    2. Yamamoto Sayaka (↑2)
    3. Watanabe Mayu (↓1)
    4. Matsui Jurina (↓1)
    5. Kashiwagi Yuki (-)
    6. Miyawaki Sakura (-)
    7. Kodama Haruka (↑2)
    8. Yokoyama Yui (↑3)
    9. Mukaichi Mion (↑4)
    10. Muto Tomu (-)
    11. Okada Nana (↑3)
    12. Furuhata Nao (↑17)
    13. Kojima Mako (↑6)
    14. Shiroma Miru (↑10)
    15. Souda Sarina (↑15)
    16. Takahashi Juri (↓1)

She said this but she also performed solo version of Dakishimecha Ikenai all the time as opposed to Gingham Check. So whether 16/17 is better depends on how you see it I guess.

I guess in the earlier years, 16/17 depends on how you view it but in the more recent years, 16 is definitely better than 17. Let's just take Miichan and Juri for example. One got a center for a song that was never performed again and the other got a 15 and was everywhere. Which one would you prefer? Centering a song that you know would never be performed (maybe outside of RH) or be in the back row of an A-side yet have a lot of promotions?

*I didn't use Kojiharu because it's a given that she will be everywhere regardless of her rank.

    Hopes:
Sasshi, Mayu, Miichan don't participate. In fact I'd like them to graduate tbh.
Several other old gen (=9th and older) don't participate.
    Ogiyuka ranks.
    Naachan ranks up.
    Tomu ranks up.
Moekyun ranks (I doubt this one at her current level of push).
Seichan ranks (this is more likely).
Management don't promise something and fail to deliver (eg the stage that never materialised).

I might add some more later as I think of them.

Depends on what you want, 16 gets you media exposures and all that stuff. 17 gets you "your own" song. 9.5/10 girls would choose 16.
