They used to include 2-3 Bsides..now? 5 at least.. sometimes 7-8. with PVs!

 

Their CD sales is still nice.
Their media exposure, CM contracts, are another story.

 

I feel overwhelmed by that amount sometimes. I wish they wouldn't have that many B-sides. I struggle to keep up with all the songs as it is, there's just soooo many if you include the stage songs as well. If you've been there from the start I guess it's easy to keep up, but I've only been listening to their music since like 2015 and I still find new songs today lol

 

They're not even doing well with Joysound tbh.

I got my CD yesterday and I've been listening to it more intently since then and Ima Para is now growing on me. It's actually quite catchy haha I didn't like it at all at first

No, but nobody is as relevant as their peak years.
But they are not dying like people moan about here all the time. Sales = money, and that is the only thing that matters in the end.

 

They are selling just as well as in their peak, if we consider the Billboard sales.

What's good about having two reports for sales is knowing how big the fandom is.

If Oricon is reporting a whole million less than Billboard, i think it's safe to assume those fans who bought the 1.3 millions are the same ones who bought the other million.

Basically, as people leave the fandom, other fans have it easier to get HS tickets, hence buying more copies.

Management probably couldn't care less what's reported or not as long as the yens are coming in, but the girls have shown some worries about their handshake events not looking the same as before (I think it was Yui?).

I also believe not having original stages is taking a toll in the theatres.
BII had to hand out flyers in the street to sell out their revival show in 2013. Something that hadn't been done since 2007 by the original members.

Before I saw the new performance I was wondering if they only had one outfit that they performed the song in(Not counting the choir version) and then I saw the new outfits. They seem a little too cheerful for the song using pastels

 

Members hs numbers seem to ebb and flow. I'm not surprised Yui might be concerned, she seems to have been stagnating for a while. On the other hand I've seen some mid-tier HKT members saying more people have been coming to see them.

You're not equating like with like. The revival was in the Tokyo Dome City Hall, a 2000-ish seat theater not a 250 seat theater. And the stage they were doing was Aitakatta which is kind of shit. And it was a series of 20 or so concerts and Team BII were a bunch of relative unknowns (outside of Osaka) with no real star names at the time and so it was a pretty hard sell.

Wow kinda late for a Music Station performance, - This performance felt lazier than the NHK one, and damn the camera crew had a hard time. Its really hard to show all 35 girls, without getting blurry or ur head hurting (especially if u r the GP, and u don't know the importance of the positions and member's line distribution = 48 formula of popular members first -> to new gen last (the second verse being reversed that).

- The fact they are doing Music Station, and so much GP promotion is because AKB is on going down, its becoming the niche group it used to be - (its not bad but its not good, events like the SSK are what keep AKB afloat, AKB doesn't necessarily have the cleanest image within Japan).

YES to both of these, If I saw that dance ver on TV (and hypothetically not a fan of AKB) and then bought the CD expecting the MV and seeing a choir documentary I would have been like "... thats nice, but I also wanna see the MUSIC part of the MV". Oh YES!, I've gotten more into Ima Para, its def very Sashi, u dont' necessarily expect a repetitive catchy song with Mayuyu or Sayaka (lol ok tbh, mayu has not had good history with her centre songs doing so well).

Election singles always pass the 1.5 million mark, and yes they are still selling but its also because the crazy handshake extras (like national events, photo taking sessions, 2 shots, sister groups being overworked) - I heard that Jurina said that BTWT (BWT) shipped over 3 million from a staff-san (I think she including international sales, online, amazon, and CD shops).

Yes for sure Oricon is not accurate with their new rules, AKB's sales aren't going down. BUT AKB is def a bit too comfortable with themselves atm, thats why a lot of fan adore the 1st gens of any 48/46 group, because there was a bit more work they had to put in to start it up properly (because there was more danger of failing back then)
YES more stages pleaseeeee, for godsakes even SNH makes new stages as often as singles (how can u keep doing revival stages, when you keep bringing them back from the dead like 10000x times)
