Here in Japan right now.

Sure, its not viral.

But I do hear it around. I have colleagues, who are non-AKB fans and know I'm a fan, telling me they heard AKB's new song on a tv show. So I guess its performed more? Its not like colleagues religiously watch music programs.

Having relatively popular dancers like Kenzo cover it, and people who don't seem to be AKB fans perse covering the dance make Rumor significantly more relevant than the past AKB singles of the last 2 to 4 years.

I don't like saying, "They're trying to make it viral." Rather, "They are finally putting more effort to promote the song."

And that's why having that poor excuse of a PV is even more frustrating.

I can only wish the ABC mart collab video had a full version.

 

When I've visited Tokyo and walked around Shibuya in the evenings I've found that there are loudspeakers in the streets which play the latest Jpop hits. There's a YouTube channel called Japan Explorer which often features evening walks around there and you can hear the music in the videos. In this one from earlier this month you can hear 'Ne mo Ha mo Rumor' playing in the final part of the video (after the cameraman has been chatting to the maid cafe girl who appears in the thumbnail):

The section begins at 12:10 and a few seconds later the song can be heard. As the camera moves around the sound of the song fades in and out but it can be heard more clearly from 14:35 to the end of the video.
