Yeah honestly, I don't see the top 3 of next gen (Sayachan, Jurina, Sakuratan) breaking into the top 3 unless something drastic happens.

I managed to get 5 out of 6 for March 21st at Yokohama - Mayuyu , Sasshi, Yukurin, Jurina and Paruru but I failed with Sakura. (I didn't try for Sayanee as I felt it might be a wasted attempt so congratulations to @rick48!) My boss has given me the OK to take time off work for late March next year so now it's time for me to start planning my trip.

 

Maybe with Sayanee, the novelty of experiencing her handshake is still there, meaning, not everyone who are curious how a handshake experience with her is like have won a slot for her, so we still a lot of people applying for her slot. That doesn't translate though that all these fans wanting to win a slot will vote for her in the election.

 

Sasshi's theory about handshake popularity vs. sousenkyo performance is that handshake = who's big at the moment, sousenkyo = who has the most hardcore fanbase. That would make a lot of sense in Sayanee's case. Plus I get the feeling that she's more popular among the young, student demographic who may not be able to afford power-voting but can very easily pay for handshakes. Not saying she doesnt have rich ojii-sans throwing down thousands of votes for her, just that she probably has fewer of these fans than, say, Sasshi or Mayu or Yukirin or even Sakura.

 

There's also the vicious cycle of "because no one really gets completely sold out except Sayanee in first round even though she's not my oshi I might as well apply for her now first or else I can't later" which makes it even more competetive in first round of handshake for her ticket.

 

Oh yeah definitely. I'm not saying they won't. I was just saying if they keep going they way the've been going then yeah. Namie had to re-invent herself to reach her 2nd peak. But if her last album is any aindication, she's going down again.

I guess my concern is, what can AKB do to re-invent themselves? What other gimmicks they can do? (maybe a lottery ticket to a private dinner party? lol) Momusu were able to bounce back up a bit by releasing double/triple singles and more PVs.

What I was trying to say no one can stay at the top forever. But I'm sure AKI P and the management already know this and are figuring out what their next moves are.

Basically yeah. It's a virtuous cycle - the member with the supposedly "hardest to get slots" will sell out first.

There are still the female audience that wants more but hasn't really been getting anything. They're clearly out for blood, and are an easy target - hence what Nogizaka is doing (because they're really just another facet of AKS).

For AKB proper, according to JP fans this NHK single is basically the biggest break they've gotten in their 10+ years. That alone is huge.

Gimmicks are unlimited. They're what you make of them. Tiered singles, different events, etc. are all ways to incentivize fans to buy. Look at the results of Halloween Night - that was through new gimmicks (selling at HS events as opposed to chara-ani, new bonus photos if you pay completely upfront, etc.).

Praying for a severe resale round for once

 

Can someone explain what resale is? I thought you have to pay for everything you won?

 

Out of interest, what is the general chance of success in the resale? Although as a first-timer I'm very happy with my wins in the first 2 rounds and I'll not enter any further ones, I'd still like to add Sakura as one extra member to my list if at all possible. (I have a COD address available to me.)

 

I never followed HS events. So I have questions:

1. I thought we need to buy the single/album in order to win A CHANCE to go to these events? No? If so, then how come people can already buy their slots when the album is not even released yet?

2. Even if you get chosen for certain slot. You still have to pay for the HS ticket itself? on top of the album/single that we have to buy before even applying for the events?

 

1.) Yes. They are bundled with theater editions of the album (for 2shot tickets)/single (for individual Handshake tickets). The 2shot/HS are sold in advance (just like now) via akb48.chara-ani.com where you apply for slots. Depending on the round, there is a limit on the number of ticket applications you can apply to. At the end of each round, you would know whether which applications you've won/lost. At the end of all rounds (8 rounds), you pay whatever you win or if you don't pay, they go to resale round. The CDs are then delivered to you during release week together with the freebies (theater ed photos and HS/2shot tickets).

2.) The HS/2shot tickets is already part of 1050/2700 yen plus domestic shipping fee to your JP address.

You don't have to pay for the theater album until after all 8 rounds are complete. Currently we are on Round 3.

 

Can I ask what does 1口ごとに500円 mean? Is it 500 yen delivery per album or more?
