Don't you just love handshake events?

Maybe by just being really high on the charts, it'll give them even more exposure... even though there are only a few people buying a ton of CDs.

    :(

It's a message signaling that AKB isn't as popular as the charts make them out to be. I feel bad for these inflated ratings. No other artist on those JPOP charts are doing the same things that AKB is doing. (read: stooping this low just to increase their sales)

If I can talk to Miichan 15 times, of course I'm going to buy 15 CDs. I already have.

If there was no such thing as a handshaking event, I don't see why anybody would buy more than 2 of these CDs. I wonder how this is going to affect them in the long run.

They had 600 tickets available for each time slot. When you entered the handshaking event (at least for the 3pm time slot that I did, there were NOT 600 people. Maybe about 200. The number of people holding 10+ tickets was quite high. Everyone else had 1 or 2. Unfortunately, AKB's core 200 fans are keeping AKB48 on these charts, not customers across Japan
