Getting the idea is the hardest part, once you understand it you just take care of not messing it up while preparing.

Now, answering a few posts (this is all based on SHOWROOM only, not theater, hanshake events, etc):

Like the guys who go to concerts and events and spend more time focusing the phone and trying to stay as quiet as possible to record it all instead of watching and enjoying the live :awesome:

Depends on how you see broadcasters in SHOWROOM. If you consider them as people that must entertain you, you can just sit down and watch the broadcast from beginning to end. If you want to support them, you would take your time to throw these gifts to them, since they open the possibility for them to appear on TV, advertisement, magazines, etc.

When you know your broadcaster, you know how to time your rounds. I knew Kahotaru used to spend the first 15 or 20 minutes greeting people back when she was a model, so I used that time to gather stuff. And eventually the broadcasters begin to notice who supports them, who takes the time to gather stars. Especially when they do it themselves too, they understand how painful it is and appreciate it more. Sure, if you throw a tower in every broadcast she'll also remember you, but they'll also remember you if you put the effort to appear on top of the stage in every broadcast. That's why Kahotaru remembers me and never calls me with an honorific suffix even though management "suggested" her to do so. Harurun too treats me familiarly without -san, just as she does with her closest circle.

Actually this started to be used widely for events with limited hour/broadcasts per day. For example, there are events where the broadcaster can only broadcast twice per day, or 3 hours per day, so in the last case they split the 3 hours in halves, spread them enough, and instead of broadcasting 3 times x 1 hour each, they broadcast 6 times x 30 minutes each, and in each you can throw 3 rounds of stars/seeds for them. As you say, it puts some stress on listeners, yes, but when you think about a 3 week event like this one, what would you prefer for your oshi to do, 5 hours consecutively per day where people can throw in total 6 rounds, or having her broadcast just twice per day, and get the same result?

I can finish a 3-round in 5 minutes with a PC, but prefer having some spare time when doing it with a phone. Sure, you can do it in 30 minutes, but also from SHOWROOM tactics, in events you usually do an 1 hour broadcast followed by a 15 minute count broadcast, so if you can do it in 10 minutes, you'll be able to throw 4 rounds in hour and 15 minutes.

I actually wish the star throwing sound would be less loud since it covers up what the girl is saying. For last year's SSK, I actually watched with mostly my full attention but at some point I got busy. So I'm usually doing something else on the side anyway and mainly stop to comment or watch interesting parts like dances. I have a setup where I'm watching/throwing on one screen and working on another screen on the side.

Figured out how to do the 3 round properly last night and it felt good having my name read. There's a sense of accomplishment like when you play a video game and finally beat a level after practicing. Plus, being remembered and receiving a personalized message if the girl reads rankings. Similar to why you would talk during a handshake and not just shake the girl's hand and walk away.

Another thought: I guess having more broadcasts means more points from the comments since only the first 50 count and some people may throw more gifts? If it's a 5 hour broadcast and you arrive late or need to leave early, you may just save your stars for a later time when it'll help you get to the top.

You can use Chrome Toolbox to mute sounds (besides other things, automatically throwing stuff, etc), for example. Or simply open two tabs, mute one and use it to throw stars/seeds. If you are using phone, you are out of luck, though.

After all SHOWROOM is portion game. And at the end of the level you get a trophy, like this (yep, it says my name there):

    trophy.jpg

Unless I absolutely know she's going to make a new broadcast next to this one, I prefer throwing everything now even if I can't rank first. Got used at broadcasters running out of battery, or even my own internet connection issues. Long broadcasts get more points, but it's not lineal, the longer the span, the fewer points they get because you rely on unique users. If you end your transmission after one hour and begin a new one immediately, you also attract people who are watching other broadcasts and go out to find stars. If they notice your broadcast hasn't been renewed, they won't go into your room to get items since they had already done so. And some people actually count in rooms even if they don't know them (I do it, many broadcasters already greet me when I go into their rooms, there's Mugon's army who go to rooms to count, and some people just go and count in exchange for stars if the broadcast is enjoyable).

It feels quite nice when you are recognized by the broadcasters. It feels much better when they actually come to meet you, throw seeds or stars and count for you in your channel (or in channels where they know you spend time). Kahotaru used to do so, and some of the 48G young members did the same for her.

Definitely the latter, less stress on the broadcaster. But, for the 3-round tactic, the broadcaster has to broadcast every 3 hours, right?

    Noted. I will do that.

Every two hours is enough. If a broadcast goes from 9:00 to 10:00 and the following goes from 12:00 to 13:00, you need to be filled by 7:15, throw away stars at 8:15, do the third round at 9:15, and then at 10:15 fill yourself until 10:20, throw away stars at 11:20, and then you can do a third round at 12:20 during the second broadcast.

Although it's risky to do it during mornings (at least not when AKB48 didn't have their senkyo): Sometimes there are just too few rooms, so you might exhaust them before filling your third round before the broadcast ends (or even worse, they are not enough to fill the second round before you reach the time to start with the third).

Added three more avatars. The following one is for STU48 Kahotaru.

    The other is for Sakura:

And from the same room as the Sakura, one for Haruppi, haven't realized about it before.

Added the first one made for Rikachan. The bubble says "Yoisho!", the onomatopoeia Rikachan uses when "fishing" fans.

Added the first Harurun's avatar made by fans. Note that it's being limited right now, so either you must be a recognized Harurun fan (been supporting her for some time, even if only during STU48) or go to the room and wait until they end the poll to let a friend get it.

Can't collect more than 100 stars of each type per hour. But you can try to play with the hour of waiting to collect more.

Suppose Mikurin goes live at 0900:
    1. At 0710, start collecting 5×99 stars by either visiting live rooms or sharing the live room at twitter (press that twitter icon)
    2. At 0810, visit one room and get 5×5 stars bonus
    3. At 0900 Mikurin starts , throw all of your stars as fast as you can (1st round of throwing stars) then go collect more stars to the fullest and throw it again at Mikurin's room (2nd round). Do all of these as fast as you can.
    4. At 0910, collect more stars and then throw it again (3rd round)
    5. Then count 1 to 50 by posting the number in the comment box
    6. If Mikurin does a 2 hour live, then be sure to collect stars again at 1010 and throw it (4th round). Or let's say, she does an hour and a half... or let's say by 1010 there is no to little sign that Mikurin will stop her live anytime soon, collect stars and throw. The same goes for the next hour.
Your total points that you have contributed in that live should at least be 1670 points.
    Tips:
    • Your placement on the podium will depend on how fast you are. The first person to finish all of the above will get the placement in the podium first. If there are more than 13 people who are able to do it faster than you, then you can't be on the podium.
    • Also, be mindful of the time. If you start at 0710 to collect, remember at 0810 you can collect another round, and so on at 0910 and so forth at the next hours.
    • Try to use a pc instead of the mobile app because the timing is obstructed slightly on the app. For example, I collected at 0710, but 0810 I can't collect another round and have to wait a minute or two. Perhaps it's a connection or loading problem, but try not to risk it.
    • I would suggest opening multiple tab of rooms to get your full refill stars, let's say 5 rooms on separate tab. After you get your watching bonus, share all of the rooms on twitter. Then open another 5 tabs. Mute all tabs other than the Mikurin's one so you cab still hear Mikurin's live.

@MaiAkikoChan the problem is that Mikurin always appear on Showroom suddenly. She doesn't tell it hours before the broadcast.

If that's so, the only way is to be always prepared. I think she got a limited time (5 to 8, 17 to 21 maybe, since they are 15?) And I think she never broadcasts during morning? So, what MaiAkikoChan said, prepare everything as if she were to appear at 17 JST. If she doesn't, at 17:10 repeat the process as if it were step 2. That will prepare you for a 3 round if she arrives at 18. If it's 18 and she's not around, at 18:10 repeat step 2, which will prepare you for a 3 round at 19:00. Just repeat that until she cannot come (because it's already her time limit).

The advantage of people appearing suddenly is that very few will do what I mentioned above, they will likely throw stars to some other girls, or do at most a 2 round. So, usually with 2 rounds and counting you should end up pretty up, maybe even in the stage.

By the way, during this event you can count up to 50 several times, not just once. Due the way this type of "free items only" event works, the way the stage positioning works, how many stars you have thrown and a couple of other things, if you count 50 times you will add 50 points to your stage positioning, if you count up to 500 (10 times 50) you'll get 300 points, etc. So, technically if you count to 50 time and again, you'll be able to reach the top stage even if you have thrown less stars than the other people above. These "extra" points get deleted from time to time (so you might be first with 1700 points, and suddenly you go back to 1600 points and drop to second place), and they don't count for the event itself (so, in the contributor's list you'll only be credited the stars you've thrown plus up to 50 comments), but if you only care about the stage position, that should be fine. However, once the event ends this will stop working and you'll only get points for the first 50 comments.

By the way, after a bit more than a year as SR user (thanks to last year's senkyo) and after 7 months of heavy SR usage, finally reached L56, the top one. Time to find another videogame :awesome: Maybe I'll take the time to reach L40 at Pokemon Go now :awesome:

I also decided to scroll back the gold history finding every Tokyo tower or tower of bears thrown. Might have missed one or two, it's well over 300 pages long.

My first tower was for Kahotaru back during the Kami no Ma event. Then I threw another for Kohachan during her very first broadcast as SKE48 kenkyuusei, then threw 10 bears for Chankana during the final day of the following Kami no Ma event which she lost to Harurun, then threw a Tower during her last day as "ordinary girl" before her prior room was shut down. During her audition I threw 30 bears and 2 towers (I'm pretty sure I threw a tower during her first audition day too), then a tower on the day she passed the audition. Then a tower on her very first broadcast as STU48 member IIRC, and a random one. A pity her birthday passed already during this "free-gift-only event"... so I'll probably throw her a congratulatory tower after the event ends.

Thanks a lot for this guide. I'm relatively new to SHOWROOM, so this helps a lot :) I always wondered why some people would count to 50 [hehe] Do you have to post numbers or is anything fine?

Could you please explain, why you would do step 2? I thought you couldn't get more than 5x99 stars

@muuh if you post numbers 1-50 it wont appear in the chat just in the bubble above your avatar, if you want, you can send messages instead of counting that gives you 1 point as well, until the 50th message.
It's hard to understand, just accept it :D the 2nd step starts the 1hour cooldown for the stars/seeds

Just type in the number in the comment box. Showroom won't show the number in the comment section, but the point will be counted. Showroom count the first 50 comments you (a fan) make in a live as points.
oops, @qpet beat me to it. :^^;:

Hmmmm... You can't collect more than 5×99 stars, true. But you can pinpoint the time for when you can start the next star collecting/farming.

In an hour, a maximum of 5×100 stars can be collected. Your vault/inventory can only hold up to 5×99 stars. For every 10 consecutive throw of the same item (same color of star), you get a 20% bonus. My tip would be... for the 3rd round, first have ten of each star and throw all of those, then collect the other 5×90 stars. Be mindful when you change to another color, if you do it right away, it gives... I forgot what was the exact wording, but along the line that the bonus is cancelled. I still haven't figured out if there is actually a disadvantage to that, but I think you'd still get the 20% bonus anyway.

I personally don't like seeing 5×99 and would try for 5×100. The way I do it is collecting 90 for the first round in the first hour. Then, 'book' the second hour by collecting 5×5 stars. Let's say A will be live at 0900, I collect 5×90 starting from 0710 or before it. At between 0820 to 0830, I collect 5×5 and this brings me to 5×95. At 0900 I throw only 5×90 (first round). Then I collect 5×5 right after and throw 5×10 and then I collect 5×90 and throw it (2nd round). At 0930,I I collect 5×95 and throw 5×90, then collect 5×5 and throw 5×10. (3rd round). My preference make me collect slightly less points because I throw less stars for the first round. But I just like it that way. And I don't count everytime. :D Nor do I do 3 rounds everytime. I am still struggling to remind myself to set the timing for the stars collection well.
