Laskar Pelangi, literally troops of the rainbow is about dreaming. A semi autobiographical novel by Andrea Hirata whose birthname is Aqil. He's from a small village by tin mine in Belitung, an island east of Sumatra. If you read the novel then you know that he successfully went to France and attended Sorbonne, then he traveled around the world until he returned to Indonesia, now he lives in Bandung. Actually the reason why he dreams is Aling, a girl from Chinese ethnicity who gave him a box of chocolate imported from France with Eiffel tower printed on the box.
