Today's the big day (it is the 4th in Japan).

Yuki Arai (22), an active member of the female idol group SKE48, will start full-scale participation in the "Tokyo Women's Wrestling" Korakuen Hall Tournament (held on May 4 with no spectators).

In the past, Beauty Pair [a musical group and tag team from the 1970s] has gained popularity as an idol, but in recent years, the distance between the two genres, idol and women's professional wrestling, has become even shorter. Ichibo Harada, an entertainment writer who is familiar with both genres, will explain.

Producer Yasushi Akimoto, who works on 48 groups, was also involved in Japan Women's Pro Wrestling, which was once launched as the "Pro Wrestling Version Onyanko Club". Unfortunately, Japan Women's Wrestling was short-lived, but Mr. Akimoto probably continued to have the idea of "idol x women's wrestling."

In recent years, there have been an increasing number of cases where idols have turned into female professional wrestlers. Tamu Nakano, who currently wins two titles in the women's professional wrestling group "Stardom", is a former member of the idol unit "Katamomi Girls". In addition, many players with idol experience such as Himeka (former Through Skills) and Saya Kamitani (baito AKB) are on the ring at stardom.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, in which Yuki Arai participates, is also closely related to idols, and Maki Ito (former LinQ) and Arisu Endo (former Cheer1), who she fights in her debut match, both have idol experience. In addition, Arai's tag partner, Miushi Watanabe, is an active idol who belongs to the idol x professional wrestling unit Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling). The current women's professional wrestling industry has abundant idol talent so that a battle card that can be called such an "idol showdown" can be assembled.

In order to attract attention to the world, it would be best for female professional wrestlers from 48 groups to appear. After all the reputation of "48" is strong. It's a perfect icon for connecting the two worlds.

    Another story

"Arai said, "I was able to win the Pro Wrestling Award" Rookie Award "! Thank you. I think it's thanks to everyone who really supports me. I don't think it's an award that I could easily win. Since I received the rookie award, I will continue to work harder and harder next year. I will do my best to make the next match in Nagoya on December 18th a good match! Everyone, please come and see me. "

The tv has an interview and pictures of her new costume.

But why did Arai , a selected member of SKE48 , decide to go up to the professional wrestling ring? We interviewed Arai about the reason, her strengths because she is an idol, and the changes she feels when she experiences professional wrestling. (* Interviews were conducted before the announcement of the "Pro Wrestling Award" and the final round of Arai on December 18th.)
