My favorites though are Iiwake Maybe, Mirai to wa, and HA!

I find the evolution in the stage costumes actually quite interesting, as time went on and money for costumes started to roll in, they became both more ellaborate and pretty. Some of the earlier ones are so ugly to me.... but it seems like the costumes really improved in both design and materials. By the time A4 arrived they were more professional looking oAo That satin seifuku for Sakura no Hanabiratachi is the bane of my existence lol but about a year-ish later you have the seifuku for Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou and it is simply beautiful.

I like the costumes for NMB48 1st single and UZA costumes.

 

Glad to hear this thread already existed! Plus thank you OP for having the pictures of several of the costumes since you can't really see all of the details while they're performing live.


Either way this is my fave costume! Love the whole punk style and all. They should release a photo book dedicated to their costumes. @LightFury thank you for the link!!

 

another costume that i like is the BwT white costume and its really elegant and really detail.

also i was reading the 1st page on this thread and some1 mentioned this place got tons of AKB costumes. This company created AKB costumes way back from 2005 til 2013+

My favorites would be:
1. AKB48 Young Members Tour Pre-Encore uniform (how I wish older members can wear them)
2. Kibouteki Refrain (Green version and Black version)
3. Aozora Kataomoi
4. The Media Senbatsu outfits introduced at the 63rd NHK Kouhaku Utagassen

As @ForrestFuller is doing a best graduation dresses countdown, and I think the costume designers are cranking out awesome outfits (with the occasional miss) almost since the beginning of AKB, I wondered which are your favorite costumes, and why?

btw, I just think there just too many to put into a one off top ten countdown

I'll kick it off with one of my all time favourites, Tenshi no Shippo 2nd day Tokyo Dome

I love so many of them, recently I was watching an old K performance where they were wearing stylized white military uniforms with heels-- that's currently my fave. It's a clean and strong look, really fitting K at the time. I really want that AKB uniform book so I can take a good look at all of them.

Of course the all denim Heavy Rotation outfits are seared into my head.

Nope, these outfits we worn by Team K during their two/three song set in one of the group's outdoor concerts. Yuko was captain at the time, let me see if I can find at least the name of the concert, I can't remember it right now. XD;

Edit: Found it! I can't believe I forgot it was the Day 1 concert for Yuko's originally planned grad concert.

They wore the outfits for Seishun Girls, Saishuu Bell ga Naru, and Boyfriend no Tsukurikata.

Also, the Iiwake Maybe costume determined the aesthetic of a whole damn generation if you ask me.

And the vynil skirts of the Beginner MV make me mad by just how stylish and cool they are.

I really like the Eien Pressure ones, but maybe I'm just biased.

Forgot the Flying Get ones, love that those are based on a Chinese design.

 

Yes, I posted some review pictures of it somewhere here before. One of the pages has the Labrador Retriever costume they wore on Music Station, I loved the porcelain delft effect

Also the Iiwake Maybe red tartan costume is probably THE iconic AKB uniform

 

shinobu may not be a capable manager, but she's really hell of a custome designer

 

Yeah, Shinobu really likes her tartans, a good many beside the Iiwake Maybe ones use tartans
