Kinda underestimated at first because the contents is meh. But yeah, great job for them!

There is no argument. As for shooting covers with the members, you claimed they weren't "bothered to do it".
I don't believe that is how it went and I explained before how the covers fits the concept. It's okay not to like it, but it's just how it is.

You might prefer covers with members on it, and that's okay but it's not a universal rule that says it should.

 

I've had the album for the week. Here's my thoughts:

I'm not impressed with any of the 4 new songs. I'm sure they'll grow on my so that maybe in June I will be wondering why did I ever not like them, but for now, they are nothing special. That being said then disk 2 isn't good for me as I have most of the singles and albums from which they pull the songs from. Disk 1 is where the action is for me. Some old favorites here that I don't have: 13nichi, ookami, umereta ma ma. It's just nice to be able to listen to.

The DVD though is great. I got the super premium version with the best of Under lives. Nogi needs to make available more of their live shows. There was plenty of former graduated members there. They did include a couple of the same songs as they did on the 3rd Album live DVD which I thought to be a sucky move. Would've been nice to get a different version of these songs.

Overall, I am disappointed in the new songs, but find the live DVD worth it.

 

Im sad it hasnt been released in spotify. Wondering if they wont release it there? Why I really want it on spotify because many under songs arent released on spotify as b sides in their previous singles. I wss hoping so much to hear Senpuuki, Namida ga mada, on spotify but I'm getting hopeless lol.

 

Time to give an unbiased review of the four new spells on this album.

Jibun no Koto
Major disappointment. Deciding for a tearjerker for Himetan's final song is one thing, but it is also generic to the bone and lacks any depth. Himetan's doing a good job on the song though. I wish they had gone for a more fitting song for her though. Energetic, upbeat, etc. to match her personality.

Unubore Beach
I gradually came to like this song. A perfect example of how abysmal radio rips can ruin a song. The drums and bass create a solid and rich foundation. Vocals are fitting and give the song summer vibes. The guitar parts, synth leads and other effects (poing poing) keeps the song interesting. Also good use of different kind of background vocals.

Sono Onna
Wow! I love this song! The bouncing bass, the playful rhythm and the abundance of synth melodies create a rich instrumental picture. I hear new stuff every time I listen to it. It also has a bit of a Mediterranean vibe, but that might just be me. Vocalwise, the song is also very pleasing. The lines in the chorus are magnificent, but they aren't afraid to mix some rap-like vocals as well. And it all fits perfectly. Stellar!

Dare Yori Soba ni Itai
I am not really into the ballads, as most of them don't resonate with me. Unfortunately, this one is no different. This doesn't mean this is a bad song, because it is actually well crafted. It's just not for me (although I somewhat enjoy the chorus).


Overall, I am not too hyped by the new material. I was hoping the quality of the songs would make up for the lack of quantity, but that isn't the case. Sono Onna is great though, and I am grateful for that song.

 

There were traitors, that went digital
3rd place in digital albums with 2147 copies, but differences were funny, like 6 copies.

Honestly, even if they were only making this album with black Times New Roman 12 pt on top of white, I'd still buy it. Probably they decided on this covers to make them stand out from the rest of CDs in the display.

Another alternative is they could have made an alternative cover using the pic from the main poster (the one where the girls wearing the drapey grey clothes). The alternative covers from Nogiten campaign are boring tbh

 

Rather than complaint about this or that, I'm so grateful to the fact that management gave this album and bunch of promotions. First time, under members appear on media more than senbatsu.
