Oh and a few of us are planning a akb meetup sometime around early august. I think we all should meet up and get to know each other before the event.

Since you can get to anywhere else in Singapore (safe for the offshore islands) within an hour, I don't think you'd have to worry that much about accommodation.

Speculation is it's happening as part of AFA2010, which had been held at the Suntec Convention Center. It's right in the city center, which generally means you shell out big bucks. Check out some of the hotels near said Center:

If you're hard up, accomm. can be had for as little as SGD70. Sure, it puts you in the heartland and might get you some looks (they have hourly charges, iirc), but what's that for AKB48.

Marina Mandarin is a mid to high-end hotel, so the price shouldn't be surprising.

Try like Furama or something idk.

I was thinking of asking some of the local members (and my friends who are studying there) who are willing to accommodate overseas fans, if it is possible though.

this is definitely a good news

anyway here are some details,if they are really coming for the AFA event,in last year AFA event the concert pass price for one day is $108 and two days are $188.I doubt they will perform both days...so probably just one day.
