    Ok, I'm going by context since I don't know the actual word for it but did Oku give Haruna abortion advice?

    Oh come on, why all this doom and gloom. It's idol drama after all. Go with the flow. Just enjoy your oshis and ignore girls you hate. I don't see much difference in their acting skills compared to last year drama. Ok for truth sake, it could be that over the top violent story kind of covered their acting aspects more.

    No they don't need to have a terrible life, but this is a drama so I expect some kind of story rather than... "they're suicidal just because."

    I don't mind the introduction of a disorder into the series, but if Yukirin does have a depressive disorder, it has been portrayed terribly. I would prefer to be occasionally perhaps looking through her eyes and seeing how the world how she sees it. That would make it extremely interesting. Right now it just seems like she wants to cut her wrists just because. In addition, if she DID have a depressive disorder, just talking and being there for her will NOT solve the problem. It's a disorder and she needs to see a specialist to get a proper diagnosis and the proper treatment (not all depressive disorders are treated the same, some are better treated with medication and some need therapy, some need both).

    I don't really mind if she has a disorder, but I would like to have a reason to sympathize with her more. For now it just seems like she feels her life is terrible (for no good reason at the moment) and so she wants to cut her wrists. Maybe this is just the opening signs of her starting to develop the disorder, in which it could become interesting from now on.

    I'm actually enjoying the drama despite what I say. I am watching it just for the girls, and although the plot kinda sucks, it's still enjoyable to watch. Just wanted to point out some of my gripes that's all :^^;:

    And yeah, this type of drama really brings out their flaws in acting.

    I just wanted to point out that people are weak and hurt themselves over the littlest things. I know because I was like that once.

    So far I like Yukirin's story the best... can't wait to see MayuSae tonight. <3

    Yes, she said she did it before (and didn't even know who the father was...), so she took Haruna to that clinic.
    I was like "MAACHAN WTF???!?!?!"

    While it would most likely be best to wait for loveandcoffee's translations (and further episodes), I personally could see reasons enough for her to be depressed.

    Yukirin is lonely, and generally in these cases, either she has to reach out to people, or people have to reach out to her.

    For her own reasons, she seems to have trouble reaching out to others, and so as it currently is, other people have to reach out to her.

    However, that's not going to happen.

    Her classmates will never reach out to her because they treat her normally. To them, she's just another classmate, someone who (we've all had people like this in our lives) you can go through an entire school's term with, and not know anything about them (except their names), or even interact with them. Everyone seems to view her normally and seem to assume she has no problems (which is not the case at all), and as a result, they have no reason to be concerned with her (not to mention her classmates are considerably jaded, if you remember their reactions towards their homeroom teacher's impending death).

    Her family isn't all that helpful either. Her mother seems to constantly compare Yukirin to her brother, and seems disappointed that she isn't so. Her father on the other hand, doesn't feel this way and doesn't have all that many expectations for her. On one hand, you could view this as kindness, on the other, especially for a person who wants attention, you could view this as a small form of neglect. Her brother also seems supportive, but as one of the reasons for her problems, I doubt his help would have any benefit. I also found it noteworthy that Yukirin could go through the entire meal without talking to her family at all. It was almost as if she wasn't there. The family seems to have reached a point where they're just going to accept Yukirin's silence and not view it as anything worth being concerned about (though they should be concerned), and as a result, Yukirin could easily kill herself, and the family wouldn't know anything about it until it was too late.

    In the end, the only one who does reach out to her is her teacher (who the students don't seem to particularly care all that much for), and besides that, I assume what Yukirin really wants is a friend, presumably someone her age, who she can relate to. Her teacher and her family don't fit into this category.

    Right, finally got round to watching some of this series, well so far it's O.K. my japanese is not strong enough follow the story word for word so I will have to wait for subs to give any real opinions on it but so far It's, well, it's OK I guess all the stories are kinda working (though I'm not qiute sure why Yukirin is so sucidal but that could be a language thing, though she never really talked to her family or anything so we may yet not know what it really bothering her....) and the acting isn't terrible so it's definatly watchable

    WTF is going on with the music though, I found it took away from the story rather than helped it out...

    About Yukirin's episode
    I don't think you're right, Terry, when you say she has no reason to be depressed.
    1. Her family. You say they're supportive, but they're actually not. The way they talk to her implies that she can't even try to compete with her brother cause she's a girl and she's not that smart. They really downplay her and base their judgement only on her school marks, you can clearly see they make no effort to understand her or be sympathetic.
    2. The class. It's true that they acknowledge her. But the WHOLE class, except Yuki and Rie, was talking about their graduation trip and proposing where to go; when she goes away and Rumi (?) calls her name, she's hoping they'll ask if she wants to go on the trip too, but she just says "You dropped your letter". It's even worse than being totally ignored in my opinion.
    Not that I say that she has every right to be a cutter. But she sure has a lot of rights to be unhappy.

    Also, this is more of a cultural thing. Even if she was *really* depressed (as in depression, the illness), in Japan it's not treated as an illness. Your body doesn't hurt anywhere, so it can't be an illness; moreover, acknowledging that you/your relative has this kind of problem is considered very shameful. Psychanalysis/psychiatry are not regarded as real sciences, or at least, not as much as in North America.

    Just watched episodes 2-4...

    well...this drama has been underwhelming so far >_>
    the stories just feel terribly bland, even with the girls to look at.

    and as mentioned several times already...the background music....ughhhh. the sound editing is so bad, it's worse than my classmates and my own group's film productions. it's just inappropriate music thrown everywhere and you get the feeling they didnt put much thought into it. Where the hell did they get their sound editor!?
    It's not about it being a cheap production- it obviously is, but even a drama on a small budget with subpar actors can be pulled off adequately with the right elements imo.

    I agree with this.
    When things like this go on for a long time, I think it's quite natural to end up like in Yukirin's case. (Even if they did potrail it a bit.. abnormal. But it's Japan, they can't potrail depressions and homosexuality what do you expect lol x__x.) She most likely just wants to be acknowledged by her parents and her classmates to reach out to her. But if this goes on too long, you forget how to do it herself and you turn into the social awkward one, which she obviously is, wanting her classmates to reach out to her, yet she hides from them. The cutting doesn't make her feel any better, it is more of a call for help. In her mind, perhaps if someone noticed it they would recognize how she felt and help her out of it. She's caught in her own cloudy thoughts. Sadly that's not really how it works.

    I didn't like Tomochin's episode. That was one of the most awkward things I've ever watched. :/
    Kojiharu's was ok.. and so was Yukirins.

    well some thoughts about tonight's episode :
    well about the sae mayuyu segment , it is just a bff femance that gone wrong and also mayuyu character can't snap out of it as she discovers sae is dating a guy. it is just like when your bff is dating someone, your whole world is collapsed.

    Yeah, I understand what she might be going through now, but it still just feels underwhelming to me. I guess this drama is more about support and relationships rather than anything else. So far all the problems the girls have encountered so far has something to do with finding someone to rely on perhaps.

    Yuko -> Lacrosse Team
    Tomochin -> Her friends perhaps
    Haruna -> Father
    Yukirin -> Possibly Kitarie

    And I can assume the rest of the stories will be similar as well. And the teacher being the common element between all of them. I guess I'm just disappointed that the drama seems so simple. I actually would have liked Mariko to be involved with the problems more too.

    It seems they want the drama to be serious, but it's all really downplayed with the mediocre acting and terrible BGM moments. Also, it annoys me that they take pregnancy so lightly (of course, the girls obviously aren't very well mannered but still).

    I'm sure the stories will get better as they develop more. Just wanted to get the previous stuff off my chest that's all.

    @loveandcoffee, I think it was Akicha that gave her the letter.
