"Director Akira Nishino (63) who led the Japanese national team to the final tournament for the first time in two tournaments (16 strong) at the World Cup World Cup (World Cup) soccer match will be retired at the end of July's terms of office. Japan Association of Football Association president Kozo Tajima announced yesterday."

Mako tweeted about it and used the word for dismissed, but apologized and changed it to retire after her twitter followers corrected her. (google translate)

"I am sorry that it is a word to retire

A more nuanced story in English. Nishino's contract is not being renewed, but he claims that was the understanding all along.

"Japan coach Akira Nishino will not be asked to continue in the role when his contract expires at the end of this month, the Japanese Football Association (JFA) and the manager said on Thursday.

Speaking as the squad returned to Tokyo following their World Cup last 16 defeat by Belgium, Nishino said this had always been the plan.

"My contract ends at the end of this month," Nishino told reporters at Tokyo’s Narita airport. "And I have been working on the assumption that this job would last from the moment I was appointed to the end of the World Cup."

My heart dropped for a moment when I caught this phrase from the corner of my eye. :shocku:

Anyway, it's a real pity the World Cup had ended like this.
The team played really well imo.
They managed to beat Columbia in 90 minutes when England had failed.
And the players held their own and were not muscled out against their bigger sized opponents.
All the teams, in fact. Columbia, Senegal, Poland and Belgium.
Just really unfortunate at the very last minute.

Hey, it's so boring waiting for tomorrow's matches, so let's fight? [hehe]

Who do you think is the best ever free kick taker in the world?
Please don't say David Beckham, or I'm not talking to you anymore. [hehe]

    My choices.

FYI Nishino was urgent coach , coz they sack their coach near the worldcup , even its not as how near the world cup is when spain fired lopetegui . he ( nishino ) haven't managed any teams since 2015.

and checking in wikipage , he's lack of experiences , but he got his past glory with ganba osaka which he'd managed for almost 10 years and winning AFC Champions League 10 years ago.

he's not among the best coach out there , but he's very underrated IMO. the worst decision i thought about him that he's not changing any players before the score goes 2-2. i believe he subs in fresh leg at 2-1 condition , it make sense they can even score 1 more goal since belgium defense already widely open.

Seems France is having golden generation again since Zidane retired. But I'm telling you, at Zidane's era, Makelele was the most important. Now France has Kante.

That Iranian guy did something similar to what Zaza did in Euro 2016. Are people of Iran mad at him?
    I was talking about goalkeepers.........
Well, Cillessen is the best backup goalkeeper today. Now some teams such as Liverpool want him. He's inded too good to be a back up tho he's starter on Copa.

This is sad. I wish Nishino could get knighthood if Japan granted knighthood to its people for their service.

Previous coach of Japan was Vahid Halilhodzic that reached round of 16 at 2014 world cup with Algeria but his tactic didn't work well for Japan. Latest rumor said that he'd be back to Algeria as the nation is currently without coach.

Probably Japan would hire foreign coach again after Nishino left. I'm not joking, Japan should hire Wenger! Before coaching Arsenal, Wenger coached Nagoya Grampus & won J-League, I think he's familiar with Japanese style of football. Does Japan dare to gamble by hiring an expensive coach like Korea did when they hired Hiddink?

And Dembele was even on the bench for the most part. :worthy:
Uruguay is a lot better than I thought.
Too bad didn't get to see this Cavani guy.
    Griezmann's shot was good.
    Swerved at the last minute.
Didn't catch it until I saw the replay.
Brazil is going to be a real problem.

I like this family name. [hehe]

Sorry, not really interested in goalkeepers.
    Maybe only Columbia's Higuita.
And it was for his free kicks. :approve:

My mom watched Uruguay vs France:

    1. She didn't know there is a country named Uruguay.
    2. She was wondering that most players of France are black.
    3. She was asking if Zidane played. She didn't know Zidane had retired 12 years ago.
Deschamp didn't trust Dembélé after match against Australia but if he played against Argentina, could've scored as Argentina defense was terrible.
At least Umtiti was decent today against Uruguay. Tho Varane was the one who scored but Umtiti was better in defense.

Fernandinho would be like Felipe Melo. Both scored own goals on world cup quarter finals.

WTF KDB SCORED TGE SECOND. …………

I think there is a lot more brewing between Deschamp and Dembélé.
Something about discipline issues and the Dortmund strike.
And I'm not sure if he has fully recovered from the injury suffered at Real Sociedad.
Got to get it settled quickly. Just one or two more matches left.
I trust the English defence more. But their striking capability was quite impotent against the Columbians.

I wuold love if Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup.

I really am loving this Cup because this is happening in Russia, Russia has never hosted a Cup(moreover, it is not only because of this, I really like Russia such as language, weather, culture and music).

Brazil is out... Now all the teams I didn't want to be the champion are out... :hehe:
I'm afraid I totally disagree. I'm not happy about Russia hosting this Cup...and I'll be even more unhappy about Qatar. It's a country without football tradition and it will force a change of season, something that will damage all the leagues. They will host it only because they have a lot of money, that's all.

nah , unfortunately the traditional countries almost all on the badshape / not at best situation.

France already host the last Euro's , Germany still the host from the last 3 edition WC , Italy's FIGC being disastrous for years , as long serie a teams doesn't had any chances to get their own stadium , i dont see any renovation for world-cup class stadium can be done in italy .
perhaps Holland , England or Spain still available though..

Meanwhile, how could Tite kept playing Gabriel Jesus when he had been terrible at this tournament?

    Firmino should've been starter.
