They paid more than 100M for a 33 y.o. player. They'd better pray he doesn't start to get injured soon...

Just a point of interest with regards to France's second goal against Uruguay.

    My Video291.gif

I had been wondering why Muslera was moving to his left when the ball went to his original position. The video shows Griezmann's foot way to his right after the kick was taken. It is an usual shot as most players would either have hit the ball straight or given the ball an opposite spin. Griezmann must have practised this many times and was hoping to deceive the goalkeeper. This bending of a ball by giving it a spin is called the Bernoulli effect. It is used in many ball sports to control the flight path of the ball, Softball and baseball, soccer, volleyball and table tennis. The bend depends on the amount of rotation for a particular speed. The path of the ball can be deviated quite severely without much rotation if the ball speed is slow. But the goalkeeper would not then be beaten. So the speed has to be high and consequently more rotation has to be added. This is where only the very best in the world have that technique. Griezmann's shot was pretty fast, so I had not expected the ball to swerve much especially in the opposite direction, but it did beat an experienced goalkeeper. He didn't have sufficient time to figure out the direction of the swerve based on Griezmann's stance. Basically it was a very good shot.
The best example of the Bernoulli effect illustrated is Roberto Carlos' goal against France. His shot was so fast that nobody would have expected the ball to actually bend that much.

Anyway, who really cares about the soccer goals. [hehe]
This is the Bernoulli effect seen at its best.
    In a drama. [hehe]

Nice stance. Looks very similar to a professional tenpin bowler.

Mate, I just googled that Trippier dude. This generation of England is lacking of popular names but they got a big chance to win this world cup meanwhile Beckham's generation was full of celebrities but they all craps when wearing the Three Lions crest.

Meanwhile now I know why Africans are rooting for France. Are you even aware that the one who scored the winning goal that took France to this world cup final is The King of Wakanda? www

I wanted to say something rude about them too, but there isn't really a need. Those who know soccer well will know anyway.

    Whoah Croatia equalized.

England to final is what England fans & marketing staffs want but Croatia to final is what the rest of humanity wants.

It was clearly a defensive mistake.

    Fact of the day:

City where you live may have more people than Croatia.

I need to read more articles but I heard Croatia's struggling for independence was begun in a football match. Croatia is destined to be a football nation.

That was a good hunch. :approve:
I had placed the likelihood of them getting through below Russia and especially the younger English.
Croatia were quite the better team that day.
But it's an almost impossible task against France.
Mandzukic could hardly walk at the end. Subisic looked like he had problems moving to his right, because he was standing way off the centre during Trippier's free kick. The French will probably assign an extra guy to mark and stifle Perisic and Croatia will be having problems with scoring.

Maybe the key is the word WINTER in
The temperature in November/December is a lot more bearable than during summer.

Which is irrelevant because the next World Cup will be played in winter?
Maybe next time just elaborate a bit with your message or something. :^^;:

Great... The FIFA Club World Club already spoils everything around the teams that play it...and this is going to be far longer...

3rd place match is the the most useless match in every world cup. A pundit tweeted about how unimportant this match made me rather to sleep last night.
