I have followed this group since their debut and didn't think they were that well known, so glad to see others like them too! I love their sound and style... and Yuuchan is actually my fav!
I didn't know they had a thread, but GEM is awesome! Hope they get more popular in the future. Also, Ito Chisami recently came back from the three-month hiatus she took to improve her performance skills. The group should be back at full strength now, so I'm looking forward to what they do next! Source: http://tokyogirlsupdate.com/chisami-ito-return-gem-20151061542.html
GEM is releasing a new single on March 23, 2016! Details are scarce right now and the title hasn't been announced yet, but look forward to it! CDJapan link: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/AVCD-39241
I never carefully listened to them before recently because I thought they were just another B-rate Idol group. Boy was I wrong! I'd say Gem is the best Jpop Idol group out their, but unfortunate they may slowly disappear for lack of popularity and follow the likes of sweets, Bright, Domino and Dorothy Little Happy. For those who never heard them, some key points are: 1) catchy melodies: I'm an AKB fan but AKB songs are boring. 2) excellent singing: At least three girls can hold their own and sing solo parts 3) Good dancing: I feel the choreography matches the words well. Here are a few videos to sample Gem. I hope this encourages you to look into them and hear more of their songs. GEM's new single, "Spotlight", is coming out on July 20th! GEM also added two new members: Noguchi Monami, whose member color is gold, and Nishida Hirari, whose color is silver. You can check them out in the "Spotlight" PV!
No problem! I'm always happy to help out a fellow fan. GEM's regular EDM/pop songs are always great, but I think they can rock a lot of different genres. Their album which was released a few months ago had five new songs that are pretty awesome too - there are a couple ballads ("Clarity" and "departure") along with some more upbeat songs ("Tears in the sky", "FLY NOW!!", and "Party Up"). For those that want to know more about the group or can't get enough, I found an awesome GEM-focused tumblr blog called the-gem-10 which I've linked below. The people at the blog also compiled an awesome 'GEM Primer' PowerPoint which I've directly linked as well - you can find fun facts and links to their other B-sides and live performances in there (including the five songs from their album). the-gem-10 blog: http://the-gem-10.tumblr.com GEM Primer: https://docs.google.com/presentatio...KR8RdFzPWX8KwPIk/edit?pref=2&pli=1#slide=id.p All credit for the blog and GEM Primer goes to the people at the-gem-10.
Takeda Maya's last single sales was good. They was able crack top 10 Oricon weekly chart, but the latest single was not. It's sad. This group deserve more love
Noguchi Monami, who was on hiatus recently for illness, has decided to leave GEM permanently to focus on academics. It's a bit sad to see her go, but it's understandable. Best wishes, Monami! Twitter follower count as of 10/06/2016: Takeda Maaya (22,472) Murakami Rana (19,000) Kanazawa Yuuki (18,961) Oguri Kako (16,714) Ito Chisami (16,416) Morioka Yu (15,308) Iyama Maho (15,185) Minamiguchi Nana (15,014) Kumashiro Jurin (13,258) Hirano Sara (12,805) Nishida Hirari (8,325) Well, being Chiyuri's big sis (Chisami) and an ex-AKB KKS (Yuuki) kinda helps.
