This number is only for a particular time however (e.g. 1:00 p.m. to 2:00.) Meaning there might be a little discrepancy, but fans reported that in general it basically follow the below lineup. Manatsu also didn't stand for the whole event (may was only available for one or two hours maybe?) so her number might be higher due to fans having to pile up for one particular time.

First most people consider Reika to just be in managements good books, but many people know she isn't as popular she is pushed (if you're a nogizaka fan you'll notice a lot of people expressing that opinion) and second Fukugawa's freaken awesome so don't be so shocked.

 

Considering the massive amount of push Manatsu is getting (k8, two full episode of Doko dedicated to her, special entrance in hs event, etc) the amount of increase seems very normal imo.

I must say I am slightly annoyed that they are dedicating two full episodes to her thou. No other members have ever have a single episode dedicated to them, & suddenly she's getting two out of nowhere. Also, what with putting Manatsu against members in areas where the members are weak in?

They are putting Manatsu against Ikuta in cooking! Againt Ikoma in holding breath under water! Against Inoue in speed-eating! Shouldn't they be putting her up against someone who's good at the area of competition (e.g. against Maiyan in cooking), should they not?

As for Sakurai, I think she certainly doesn't have top seven popularity, but is just a tier below that. I think she is roughly as popular as Yumi, Maimai, Inoue, & Kana. Mixi is known for having more female user than male btw, so this might be a good indication of popularity among females. For comparison's sake, AKB's mixi ranking is top by Mariko, by quite a margin too. & she is certainly a popular member. But come senbatsu election day, mixi second-placed Yuko is on top. Mayuyu, yukirin, & sasshi also ended up ahead as well.

Seriously though, I just hope this whole push won't be too much of a disaster in the end .....

 

To be fair while the two eps while the eps are dedicated to her, they aren't all about her (I mean did you see last weeks shukan episode featuring Kawaei Rina, now that was an ep all about one member). Clearly all the other members are going to get a decent amount of facetime in these two eps and just like most it'll just stuff we already know as for Manatsu facing off against members n things they're weak against it's pretty obvious they are going for a joke in that ep and is (k8, two full episode of Doko dedicated to her, special entrance in hs event, etc) really considered a massive push? if she doesn't grow than she'll be in undergirls by the next single and is there really an etc? however if she doesn't grow and stays in sembatsu next single than i'd say they are pushing her and is there really an etc?

Certainly the episode was not only about her. Nonetheless, that doesn't change the fact that the theme of the episode is about her, & such a privilege is something that every other members does not get to enjoy. The closest we come to such episode is the once-a-month tribute to members sharing a birthday on that particular month. & those are shared, & don't take up half an episode even if there is few members for that month. Also, if the purpose of these episode is to promote Manatsu, than wouldn't it be a good idea to make sure the other members are presented, so their fans will actually watch the episode?

I am aware that this is building up to be a joke actually, but I just felt that it wouldn't be entertaining really to see Manatsu beating other members on stuffs their the weakest at.

I will try my best to answer your question thou.

The things I mentioned are certainly massive push imo. Compare the special treatment she been given these days to all other members in Nogizaka. I think such comparisons show that she is being treated very preferentially. Out of 33 (+1 if include manatsu) Nogizaka members, only 9 even been to k7/k8, 24 members have not. After more than one year of hard work, what entitles her to airdrop ahead of those 24 members into k8 position? Why do management need to make sure that she stays in senbatsu by the next single, & not the 11 Nogizaka members whom have yet to even enter senbatsu at all? I have written a detailed critique essay on what is wrong with the 4th single senbatsu in the 4th single threat's 2nd page, & a portion of that is on what is wrong with Manatsu airdrop. You can read it if you want, & you are welcome to critique it or comment on it.

You listed all these things that she's getting enormous push in, than put etc to indicate there is more but won't list them, I simply believe there is nothing else besides "k8, two full episode of Doko dedicated to her, special entrance in hs event". Etc is simply you exaggerating the point, i'm asking you if there really is an etc to put you on the spot. Get it?!

Anyone I've never felt any significance K8 in the first place some of the members clearly aren't worthy of there (Reika, Ikoma, Hoshino) it doesn't mean anything until it truly gets filled with the 8 most popular members till than it's just ruse, a kami8 by name and nothing else, so i'm not too bothered about Manatsu being put there either. As for getting this only feature!? that no member got I can't be too sure what the other members are sacrificing or Kana's situation (did she drop out of highschool?). But even if that was the case I doesn't immediately put anyone forward on the list, and like I said Manatsu doesn't work out she'll be put in the undergirls next single and if Kana is really as popular as you say than she'll be back next single. Although personally I never got into Kana not after she changed her hairstyle, I really thing it makes her look worse.

First of, I sense a provocative undertone in your response. I would really appreciate it, & I think the whole community would too, if we can engage in discussions without any hostility. There is nothing wrong with difference in opinions, but I am sure we can exchange opinions with respect for each other. Now, in response to your post,

This is a fair point. I concede I should not have ended my sentence with etc. Nonetheless, this does not invalidate the fact that Manatsu is receiving massive push, evident by the preferential treatment she received. Nor is this an attempt on my part to exaggerate my point, but rather a typographical error. I don’t think it would be wise to make an assumption on one’s intention base purely on a single word. I do apologize for that wording thou.

There is great significance with k8 however. The exposure that k7 members received in comparison to non-k7 members are enormous, & is apparent if one looks at the various tv programs & magazine shots Nogizaka participated. Manatsu’s airdrop here also means she will be gaining great exposure advantage over non-k8 members (this is also an aswer to the previous response).

Kana did not drop out, but transferred from a normal school, where regular attendance is required, to one that do not have hard attendance requirement (commonly attended by people who works in the entertainment industry).

Also, I think participating in Nogizaka do requires extensive hard word & enormous time consumptions. Educational commitment will definitely takes a hit in term of the amount of time being available to be invested in such. These are all sacrifices that I believe Nogizaka members have to undertake. For under members who never once enter senbatsu, there’s the extra mental burden, & question of whether they made a correct investment of time with their dedication to Nogizaka. IMO, all these are sacrifices that Nogizaka members have to undertake. Manatsu, on the other hand, did not need to make such sacrifice (or make such sacrifice to a much lesser degree.)

I respectfully disagree. Nogizaka management have shown an extraordinary resilience in hard push, & yourself mentioned three examples above (Reika, Ikoma, Hoshino.) I believe that even if Manatsu doesn’t fly, management might still centre her if they want to. Popular members do not get promote as they should, an example would be Eto Misa. Misamisa have had exceptional handshake numbers for a while now, but never enter senbatsu once.

 

I dont see how manatsu is getting the push of a century tho if she was originally a top 5 girl of the group, even though k8 seems a little too much and a steal there is nothing we can do about that. If anyone dislikes hoshino you can think of manatsu as being there to slowly replace her (thats only my theory though). Of course she gets a special doko episode, everyone who was new to senbatsu (Seitan, bebitan, myumyu, yuminee, secchan, maimai) all had a full episode. her being pitted against weak members is only fair because its 15 against 1 lol (this reminds me of the akbingo episode where it was jurina against everyone else when she was just starting out)

@mieniem the members all chose reika to be their captain and it was only finalized by management so it would only makes sense reika deserved a spot no matter how annoyed you are of seeing her around; she is a better captain than some of the other girls in the 48 group. I think you need to break out of the norm and accept that not every girl that is 1-8 in popularity will secure the 1-8 spots

its funny how noone here is super against renarin seatwarming in senbatsu but everyones soo uppity about hoshino

Certainly manatsu is not getting the push of the century. I guess my choice of descriptive for the push was a bad choice, resulting in so much discussion around it. That is my bad.

The point I was trying to make thou was that manatsu is receiving push, a kind of push that most if not all other Nogizaka members does not get to enjoy individually. I don't think she should get preferential treatment because she was originally a top 5 girl either, as it is a fact that while she was away other Nogizaka members were breaking sweat & tears.

It is also true that there are really little that we as fans can do to remedy this, but I believe just because something unjust is reality does not means it is justified. I think fans should have the right to at the very least demand some consideration for fairness.

I actually quite like Hoshino to be honest. She is the hook that lured me into Nogizaka in the first place. Nonetheless, even thou I am very fond of her, I prefer fair or merit-based treatment in senbatsu selection. Seeing Hoshino landing k7/8 without the proper popularity to back her up does not make me happy in any ways. Replacing her with Manatsu is hardly a fix thou, is like replacing a wrong with a wrong.

There was a special episode dedicated to new senbatsu members only for the second single thou. & that was one episode shared by three new members too. There was one shopping episode after the third single where the new hashire bicycle members appeared, but that was not a full episode dedicated to them too. Manatsu is getting two episode dedicated to her, which is better treatment than what all these members received.

As for the good or bad of the contest episode next week, I guess that is just preference really. It does equal it out in some sense if she is up against 15 members I suppose.

About Reika, I am not sure if she was chosen by the members. The sense I get was that she was appointed by management one day. I think she's a great member, but I don't get a sense of leadership from her really... Which contrast greatly to other captains like Sayanee, TakaMina, Yuko for example. The member that exhibit leadership from what I saw is Yumiko. She is not popular at all unfortunately, but from what little I saw in Doko, & the few second sneak peak I have of koko, she seems to be a leader, & well respected & loved by all under members. These are my personal observation thou, I might be dead wrong.

I don't think ichiki should be in senbatsu either actually (I guess it funny how I never end up expressing that in words before.) I do think she is really talented, & want her to do well. Fact of the matter is, I want every Nogizaka member to do well. But ultimately everyone should get their fair chance first. Otherwise, we should go merit based. Either way, she should have been dropped, & is definitively a more reasonable drop than Kana.

 

i guess it depends on the way you interpret it..the recent doko wasn't entirely about her, and the second one doesn't seem so either. The episode after the 2nd and 3rd selections were all entirely hotseat episodes about the newly added members(even though its split between the 3)

My bad! it's an unfortunate habit that I've developed whenever i'm debating online, but trust me I've have no were near as hostility as would be implied, however I do agree to speak respectfully cause I still feel that I did not cross any line of etiquette in discussion

Hopefully you're just reading too deeply into this cause I really hope there is day where all four of them fall out of sembatsu (only if they haven't done anything to pick up their popularity) and switching with them are are more popular canidates.

I can't tell if that's a good thing or bad
1 cause I don't know how good a captain she is.
2. Because a kami7/8 not being secured by only the most popular members is kind of refreshing yet a little infuriating.
3. I personally like Reika (she's ridiculously pretty)
