To celebrate its 20th Anniversary establishment, Avex will debut GIRL NEXT DOOR (ガール・ネクスト・ドア), a newcomer unit in Fall 2008. the unit features newcomer 千紗 CHISA on vocals, 井上裕治 Yuji Inoue on Guitar, and former day after tomorrow member 鈴木大輔 Daisuke Suzuki on keyboard and as composer. their first single “偶然の確率” will be released this September, followed by another 2 singles coming in October, and November. CHISA was originally a dancer based in Kansai area. Avex noticed her absolute performance and presence, and encouraged her to take lessons in Tokyo. CHISA entered Avex Artist Academy on a scholarship, and there met Daisuke Suzuki who was a writer mainly contributing tracks for other artists. After recording several demo tracks, the two caught the attention of Avex CEO, MAX Matsuura. Adding Yuji Inoue as guitar, their debut is fixed on September, 2008.

I've heard all their singles so far, since they're so hyped in the J-pop medias, but still they can't really live up to the greatness I keep hearing about them.
I find the songs rather... avarage,

Same. They're songs are just ... not as catchy.

 

Just saw the PV for "Jounetsu..."

The song's so-so, but the PV's pretty trippy - kinda like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Caroll, albeit with a J-pop twist.

(And yes, I've read both books. B-))

Girl Next Door is so Avex-y and so yesterday kind of music. Well it's not that I dislike them, but when I first heard their song, my mind instantly flew to times of early Every Little Thing and Day After Tomorrow. Their musics are so similar and for myself, I get bored to listen to that same kind of music over and over again. And why does Avex like to create 3 words' name for their bands? Do As Infinity, Day After Tomorrow, Every Little Thing, now Girl Next Door?

I actually like "Winter Game"
Well I don't get the "It's amazing" feeling, but I like it. And since I've considered their other songs to be just "okay" this must be my fave GND song, I guess.
