I think it’s bad to use BMI in this context, Japan has their own BMI system, based on the fact that Japanese people genetically get the problems connected to being owerwheight easeier/at a lower wheight. That’s one reason why Japanese society are so focused on being skinny and focus a lot on diets and not gaining wheight. Some girls just gain wheight tho, stuff like genes and hormones play a big part in it. Right now tho, I feel like Miki looks good, she’s really been working hard to lose weight and you can really see that it has payed of.

 

As an Asian, I have to say that we don't use BMI when considering someone as fat/overweight or not. Our idea of what is fat/overweight or not is different from Western. Someone considered as moderate in the West can be "overweight" in the eye of Asian, not only Japanese. With that point of view, 156cm - 55kg is kind of... above average. It's not that I think she should lose weight, just to make sure you can somehow understand the situation.

Yes Mikichan's diet is successful! She tweeted about it along with the before/after photos, this is what she said:

Can someone tell me why did Mikichan graduate so suddenly? On Akbingo she has irreplaceable seat like Chiyori.
