I'm glad sasshi has interaction with kojiharu in variety show again. I love their interaction and kojiharu really genuinely likes her from akb days and the best senpai aside from takamina & acchan.

Also congrats for sasshi finally opening her youtube account
I think she actually prefer platform where she can see & read fans comment directly, which i think might not be suitable for youtube, but hopefully she'll still maintain the youtube.

I want to see her random interaction with her cats, sankon, kojiharu, kitarie (or anything other than fuwa chan or hasegawa [hehe] )

Very surprised it took her so long. Sasshi was made for YouTube. Who has more to say about stuff than Sahihara Rino? And she looks really really good these days, too.

    congrats with 100k!

I'm really curious what her next video will be about. hope it will be something fresh and interesting. honestly, don't really want her to go the ordinary path of make-up/cooking/eating/gaming/talking videos. it won't differ much from Showroom. but unfortunately, it looks like she probably will. looks like she started her channel without any plan or vision :( and without them she'll probably get tired of making videos pretty soon. 1 video per week is already kinda slow (2-3 would be much better, especially in the beginning) and if she's not interested enough the pace will drop to 1vid/2weeks and then 1vid/month pretty soon.

instead of above-mentioned safe and boring route I wish she'd use Youtube as an outlet for creativity. something to challenge herself with. mad respects that she challenged herself with video editing skills but content is still more important than form. I hope the subject of her videos will relate to her creative jobs as producer. something in the lines of lyrics writing, backstage of idol/cosmetics producing? or maybe even real estate trading? [hehe] anyway, just some of my thoughts and wishes

I would love to see that! I think she could create some really unique content that would give a backstage view into the idol world that we haven't seen from anyone else.

    Sasshi's retrospective of 2020
    Retrospectives for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019

It was a so-so year for Sasshi (she even thought it herself). On one hand, number of bad moments increased compared to previous years, on the other hand, this year was so bad overall for everyone that Sasshi's letdowns weren't that big in comparison and 2020 for her can still be considered successful.

Other characteristics of this year: personal life - we finally got a glimpse of her love life when she talked about it a few times on various TV shows; money - Sasshi's wealth was the other topic that was brought up many times on various occasions by various people and media. Sex and money... Sasshi is turning into genuine celebrity [hehe]

On the other hand, this year also showed us how this celebrity life could end sooner than you might have thought. And not because of COVID or some other disaster, but because she's becoming more of a producer that works behind the scenes and less of a performer in a spotlight. She's been promoting more and more various stuff other than herself: her contact lenses, other CM products, various idols (her 345girls, HKT girls, TIF idols, NiziU, Produce 101 and even Nogi girls)... In Kaji Yarou she even said herself that she doesn't really have any aims left in showbiz and her producer jobs bring her more joy (and money) than TV appearances. So yeah, with =LOVE becoming more popular, with Sasshi starting Youtube, and some other mysterious producing(?) project, we might see some major changes in Sasshi's activities in 2021.

    Good
    - Lots of new CM deals:
Kirin Beer, Quickle Wiper, Quickle Home Reset, Quickle Mini Wiper, Kaki no Tane Ume Zarame, Cloud Circus, #NewOita campaign, Pokemon
New CMs for old contracts: Karada Sukoyaka Cha W, TEPCO, Liese 1, Liese 2, Sanko Seika, HRForce, Oppo, Housemate
"Karada Sukoyaka Cha W" increased its sales greatly, Kirin Beer, and OPPO too.
Sasshi's ascend to CM queen throne that started in 2019 continues! [hehe]

-5th place in the CM ranking and 8th place in TV appearance ranking
In the first half of 2020 Sasshi was 4th in the CM ranking and 5th in the TV appearance ranking.

    - Sasshi ranked 5th in the "Best cost/performance MCs" poll and 2nd place in advertisers' popularity ranking
This explains why she's in such high demand on TV and CMs.

    - Sasshi kept her place in "Nikkei Entertainment Talent Power Ranking"
Her degree of recognition is already near max, so I guess, she won't move up anytime soon, unless people suddenly start to adore her :^^;: oh well, I guess, not moving down is already a great achievement.

    - Her color contact lenses TOPARDS were doing so good in sales that Sasshi even produced new colors
I wonder if that new project she's working on is a new beauty product? My bets are on lipstick [hehe]

    - 10th place in the "Music Producer Top 100"
Go, Sasshi, go! 2021 MUST be a breakthrough year for =LOVE and ≠ME.

    - A rush of MC jobs in live TV shows
In August-September Sasshi was MC in a few live shows. This has never happened to her before so fans started to speculate if this was some kind of trial to see if she's ready to host NHK Kouhaku or some other big live show. She wasn't chosen as a host of Kouhaku, so we don't know if it was just a coincidence or she failed the test :^^;:

    - Sasshi was appointed as one of the "SDGs Week" ambassadors on TBS channel
    Simply some prestige job.

    - Sasshi was chosen as one of the talents to support Tokyo Olympics
Unfortunately, Olympics were postponed until 2021... See "Bad" section below.

    - Sasshi started to play Animal Crossing
Even at the peak of the isolation because of the Coronavirus Sasshi found a way to keep in touch and interact with her friends and fans. It also gave her numerous news hooks.

    - Interaction with famous bodybuilder Kai Greene
They even followed each other on Twitter. Bodybuilding community was very pleased with this small banter, especially after KojiRuri managed to piss them off with her utterance not long before that.

    - Sasshi got support from general public in politics discussion
There was a period when Sasshi's words about several political occasions were heavily discussed. Fortunately(?), all the flaming died down by the end of the year.

    - Sasshi's Twitter reached 3M followers
Her Twitter account also became AKB's all-time biggest, overtaking Kojiharu's.

    - Tokyo Idol Festival chairman for the 4th year in a row
    TIF = Sasshi [hehe]

    - We finally got some news about Sasshi's love life
First date after graduation was at Yokohama's Ferris wheel, Sasshi prefers to date staff members to fellow entertainers. There was also a baseless speculation about her and comedian Kanechika Daiki that turned out wrong, but was fun anyway.

    Success as an idol producer
    - It was announced that ≠ME will have a debut in 2021.
    - =LOVE's 7th single renewed their sales record despite Coronavirus setback and even beat TWICE in the first day sales
    - Despite COVID, =LOVE were able to release 8th single as well. Even though the sales dropped it was expected and the release was a feat in and of itself.
    - The same goes for concerts - =LOVE were able to hold their biggest concerts to date and even a tour when others were reluctant because of Corona. They even were able to sell out 2 concerts at Budoukan.
    - =LOVE's center Hitomi returned after hiatus.
    - They had their first kanmuri TV variety "Kimi wa =LOVE wo Aiseru ka!"
    - Overall, it feels like =LOVE's popularity increased greatly in the second half of the year after Hitomi's return and successful promotions of the song Shukipi - it became a hot topic when Sasshi appointed Minegishi Minami as a director of its MV and then when it was spread on TikTok. =LOVE was even named a few times as the next big thing in 2021 by the biggest trendsetters, teenage girls [hehe]

    Complimented Sasshi
    Idols
    Sasshi helped
    - Donated $185k (20M yen) to Red Cross and Oita prefecture which suffered from heavy rain flood
    - Supported Oita's food business
    - Sasshi appointed Miichan as director of =LOVE's Shukipi MV
    - Participated in Miichan's Youtube video that became the most viewed on her channel
    - Appeared on Hasegawa's (Sissonne) Youtube channel, which also gave him a big views and subscribers boost.

    Bad
    - Many events and jobs got canceled and delayed because of Coronavirus
    - HKT didn't perform the stage that Sasshi produced for them.
Apparently there is some major miscommunication between her and HKT's new management, so we might not see her stage at all after all even though she already wrote it :glare:
    - Sasshi had hives attacks on her face a couple of times which even affected her work

    Thx fatrain for the recap.
I didnt know that sasshi has finished the hkt stage, i thought she was too busy to finish it. Too bad that her hard work is not appreciated because of management miscommunication.

I'm hoping this year her youtube channel will bring in more fans for her (maybe she'll even get money from paid promotion of certain products mentioned in her youtube).

Also waiting for her announcement of her love life (considering how she started to open up about her love life & more MC jobs discussing love).

Btw, anyone know what happened to that women only show "queen talk"? Has the show been axed?

big news (probaly)! looks like Sasshi and Kinashi Noritake started recording of their duet song "Scandal Night"!
if I remember correctly, they didn't release it last year because "it was already too close to Kouhaku" so it looks like they actually aiming for a big hit with it (Nori sounds very enthusiastic about it too). hope we'll get to see some real promotions and performances of it on TV :worthy: will we see Sasshi back on stage?

an interesting article about Japanese TV shows.
according to it, because of the constant drop of ratings and lack of interest from advertisers, starting March TV stations will prefer viewers' demographics over ratings. some of the shows with relatively good ratings but with viewers who are 60+ years old will be closed down because advertisers' main target are viewers who are 13-49 years old.
this could be favorable for Sasshi since she appeals to youngsters. this could explain why she ranks high in advertisers' and TV producers' polls
