In today's SR, fans were congratulating her on being 3rd in the 2018 Lucky Girl rankings. She had an ice cream but was still hungry and complained that she didn't really feel lucky then. (was it no money to buy food?) Someone who understands Japanese can explain a lot more.

 

I got around to watching it, and yeah it was pretty much this for the most part. Although the talk about having too little money to get by until the end of the month sounded more like typical Ayakani to me, so I wouldn't worry much about it personally.

By which I mean, one thing to consider is that Ayakani's problem appears to be more like poor money management, than income or anything else. It seems she would alternate between extravagant spendings (especially food-wise) and times when she needs to be overly frugal, and there's no doubt the two of them are correlated.

About the "extravagant food spending" part, one just needs to take a look at what her Photolog and Instagram activity tends to be, to understand: it's made up mostly of 食テロ, or endless photos of delicious food she's had (so of course it's not like she has any shortage of it through the month).
One example that NGT fans may have still fresh in their memory: over the last months, until very recently, she went absolutely crazy for Alfort™ chocolate and wouldn't stop talking about it, posting Instagram stories, and writing Photolog entries about it. Things even got a bit out of hand, to the point that her freezer was continuously stocked up to maximum capacity with nothing but chocolate boxes, and that wasn't even the end of it. (One notable video evidence of it is here, another here, both right around the first couple minutes) For a time, it was as if her entire diet consisted only of Alfort.

Even yesterday's stream had a bit of both sides, in a way.
On one hand, Ayakani mentioned having run out of pocket money to buy any more ice cream and having to resist the urge. Then, later on, she talked about not being "lucky enough" to rent herself a house near the Yamanote railway line where it would be more convenient, although she prefaced by admitting that the rent is definitely cheaper where she lives now and the current house size much larger for the same rent prices. Also, when she talked about finding a pizza oven for 2,000,000 yen at Costco and joking with her friends about buying it, nevermind the fact they realized they couldn't have carried it in the shopping cart anyway.
On the other, the talk turned to a certain 10,000 yen rainbow-colored tissue box which was even featured on TV and Hikakin's channel before. Kani wondered why it's so expensive. Somone explained it's due to the machine maintenance costs because the tissue-dying machines need to be cleaned perfectly every day before changing from one color to another. Kani concluded by saying she's wouldn't even dare using anything so pricey and she's content with using the super-cheap tissue boxes they sell at Don Quijote stores, herself, and then she joked that she could as well blow her nose with a hanshi calligraphy paper or a newspaper page if ever necessary.
So, yeah...

All jokes aside, since Kani says she doesn't know, I think learning how to cook would actually reduce her daily living costs by a lot, especially for someone living alone away from her family like herself. I get the impression that all Kani eats is restaurant or premade store-bought food that needs only minimal heating. Gatanee would definitely be happy to help teach her, since she is already providing for Ogiyuka's needs...

By the way, another thing that surfaced during the stream: the reason Ayakani couldn't show up on AKBingo for the palm reading episode was because right on the same day she had a recording for another program, namely J-MELO on NHK World (the one she had together with Maho and Gatanee). She even joked a bit about having already "spent" some of her yearly luck over there, in reference to the fact she had the chance to meet May J in person.

I am so glad for Ayakani and hopefully this will bring more work and recognition.

Another choice that might look surprising at a first glance, but it's very appropriate when you think about it.
As a fun fact, Ayakani's last trip to Guam was no more than 3 years ago, for her end of year's school trip. After the announcement was revealed she quickly posted some photos she took at the time, which she found still deep inside her phone's memory.

P.S.: I knew she talked about her Guam experience once on Showroom, like about a year ago, but I wouldn't have hoped to find a surviving copy of the recording after all the recent takedowns. So here you go~

Please forgive the beginning, in which she plays a quirky "wake-up prank" on one of her way too many Shimajiro toys, but the sequence of the talk went like: "Wake-up prank" joke → This reminds her of the real wake-up pranks AKB members played on each other when in Guam, which Ayakani watched over and over again on DVD → Ayakani talks a little about her own school trip to Guam, after noting she stayed at the same hotel... (´∀｀；)

 

I hope she doesn't blow all her wages on chocolates this time.
