Watched the recent Toppa File with Hiyori & Kumi, and Hiyori did really well! Screen-time wise I was surprised at how often the camera was on her since she's fairly shy, but she got in several show-worthy comments, and had good reactions. Definitely worth a watch.

 

Hiyotan jumping up and down on the safety mattress after their succesful one-shot jumping scene on "Borderless" as shown on the filming scenes, just made my heart melt. If you haven't noticed that yet, please do. It's on the 42:35 mark (near the end) of Borderless ep.2 as shown on Keyavids.

Hiyotan is amazing in borderless. I found it particularly funny the way she laughed during the "Making of..." after the 9th episode. It was so CLEAR that she laughed because of Runrun's sober, collected and definitely awkward face...!

I have meguri with Hiyotan this weekend assuming staff doesn’t turn me away. She’s one I’m a bit worried about since it feels like the responsibility to entertain her will be on me. I’ll feel like Kasuga, trying to do gags.

 

One of her most loyal fans call her as "The beauty in the earth" (he even have a t-shirt with that), and I think, is a good way to call her.

Hamagishi-san is a really special girl and also, she is a difficult girl to approach. And that can be hard especially if you are 'new' or not regular with her. She has worked hard on herself to improve in many aspects and the other members always help her, but she is still very shy and quiet. But when she is confident, she is a very sweet, playful and loving girl.

It's just being patient with her.

I think my natural instinct is to try to make her laugh, since her laugh is so legendary. Of course, that could also backfire. I don’t want to overthink it in advance since there is no guarantee that staff will let me in the queue. I’ll be sure to post about my experience if I am able to talk to her.

 

I was amazed by how outgoing Hiyotan was in the meguri call I had with her. I don’t have any personal insight as to how she would act at handshake events in the past, but just based on variety I was really pleasantly surprised by how much of a pro she was. I wound up getting a bit more nervous than I expected, so it was a relief that she was seemingly in such high spirits.

She opened with a big “yahhoo~” and was all smiles throughout. Somehow I think she wasn’t expecting that I could speak Japanese, since she seemed surprised and literally started clapping when I started talking which kinda threw me off . Yes, I know stories always seem fake when you mention people randomly clapping for you, but Hiyotan really did start randomly clapping. She had big reactions in general. Of course, my Japanese is very limited so unfortunately I couldn’t really understand her response when I mentioned how nervous I was. Her response was surprisingly very burikko however, and with the context and the words I did understand, she seemed to be saying something like “ehh~, why am I making you nervous?”

Beyond that, I only really had time to say I was a big fan which got another nice reaction. I’m sure she gets that a million times at every handshake or online meguri, so it’s nice that she still gives such a big reaction. I was in the middle of asking what was to be my main question when I ran out of time before I could get it out, sadly. That question was going to be “what’s your favorite English word?” which is probably a difficult question but I think it could be fun. Oh well, hopefully one of these days I can talk to her again. Definitely wish I had more tickets!
