Some of you might know that before joining AKB, Meimei was doing streams online, with hopes of becoming an idol someday! She was quite popular it seems, streaming on TikTok. After passing auditions, she deleted her account. However, someone had some parts of her streams saved and shared it. it's a short video with a few moments of her streams! I'm not sure if it's still available anywhere online, but I re-uploaded it to YouTube (unlisted). if the video does not show watch the video here There isn't really anything special that is said here, she mentions that she wants to be an idol, and most of the video is "screenshot time". it's nice to see her from before AKB, she looked really cute ^^ it looks like she had around 10k followers! I'm not sure if the background songs are her choices or if it was added by the uploader, but these are nice relaxing songs ^^ This is probably why Meimei is good at interacting with fans now, since she got some experience before when doing streams. I'm glad that she auditioned for AKB! >.< She's doing great!
Having built that following it's no wonder meimei is doing so well in sales. It must be nice to have been a follower of hers to now be able to meet her in-person. if I had stumbled upon her early videos I would have subbed. Those fans already knew that Mei is a special person and must have thought she would quickly be the top kenkyusei after it was revealed she would be a member... at least until itomomo happened.

They have posted a video of Naanya doing some signings for her photobook, where Meimei asked her (through a written message) to wish her good luck on her AKB auditions the next day, and so Naanya wished her good luck and said: "you're cute so it will be fine!" (indeed she is cute and it went well ^^). This is from when auditions happened so sometime in the end of 2023. it means that Meimei stayed a fan of Naanya even after graduation, she bought her photobook etc.! She's a real fan :O Btw Naanya said "AKB" out of camera lol XD and she looked very excited for Meimei ^^ Now that she's in AKB, Meimei's admired senior is Miion. She really likes her and looks up to her! so basically Meimei is a 15th gen fan I love this and I can relate to her, because I also saw 15th gen debuting and I really liked them back then. My favorite was also Naanya! I followed her very closely (it's all in the Naanya thread haha. She's so pretty btw >.<). I also liked the Naanya-Miion pair. the fact that Meimei likes them makes me feel like she's been a fan of AKB for a long time and I love that!
