well guys here is my thoughts for the 48 groups in 2012

hopes : . a tokyo dome concert for the girls
.team 4 lineup finally completed
. new stages for all the 4 teams ( esp team 4)
. new records to be broken
. majisuka 3
. a dream concert between akb48 and ex-members onyanko club (including kudo shizuka)
. a dark and edgy single ofr akb48 even though ske48 got it first.


fears : . one of the senbatsu members will be graduating
.starting of an akb decline after market stagnated


predictions : . another million seller for the girls
. a million seller for ske48
.formation of tpe48 in taiwan
.acchan starring in a dorama
. an akb48 asia concert in marina bay sands singapore

Here anre some of my thoughts for the AKB family:

My hopes:
-Team 4 is filled and treated like a real Team.
- New stages for the all the teams (including team E and team N, except team KII)
- AKB's sales and popularity contiue to climb up, but' i will be happy if they just don't drop
- Some real good surprises.
- Another live singing concert.
- Concerts sold out in THE TOKYO DOME
- AKB's popularity really raise outside of Asia
- AKB visit again occidental countries
- AKB goods are available again in any online store.
- Yuka is in senbatsu for more than 2 releases.
- Sayaka succeeds in her challenge.
- DiVA release an awesome single whith 1 solo for each main girls

Fears:
- 2012 is "suprise wa arimasen" !
- A front girl graduates and 3 month later is nowhere to be seen.
- The market makes an overdose of AKB48
- Their sales and popularity drops dramaticaly
- A huge scandal involving 1 or several members.
- The janken single will still be as crappy and all about the janken tournament.
- Boring concerts

Predictions
- 2012 = copy/paste 2011 (= copy/paste 2010)
- Team 4 is filled
- Team 8 is formed
- Team M is formed
- No new stage except for Team 4, Team E, Team N
- Another XXX48 group and theater in north of Japan (Sapporo ?)
- AKB is still successfull.
- Super busy front girls will rarley appear in AKBingo

Now if I were owner I would create some surprises to create some interest. Don't know if they can rig these things, I imagine they could (do?) if they wanted to.

Yuko 1
Yukirin 2
Maeda 3
Sashi 4
and a new surprise in the top 13 (but Akicha has to be there of course)

Or they change the selection process altogether.

Hopes:
AkiP quits shafting Captain Sayaka-sama.
DiVA gets some decent songs without resorting to re-hashing AKB songs.
Amazing PVs
Something happens with team 4.
SDN48 disbandment turns out to be an April Fool's joke. Or they become Team 8.
Nacchan makes senbatsu.
STAGES!

Fears:
AkiP continues to shaft Captain Sayaka-sama.
Random girls from 48 family show up in senbatsu.
Jurina returns to hogging all the screentime in AKB PVs
Team B will continue to consist of Mayuyu, Yukirin, and everyone else.
AkiP neglecting the 48 family for Nogizaka.

Predictions:
at least 1 major graduation
AKB single sales will have hit a peak
One single will finally break Love Machine's record
Acchan and Yuko will continue to be plastered all over Japan

I did a list earlier in this thread but one I have been thinking about recently is Matsui Rena breaking into the Kami 7, I can really see it happening!

^ It could happen but it might very well not happen. The top 8 will be as hard to beat as last year and Sasshi will want to crack the top 7 too.

Yuko's no.1 won't be a surprise anymore as she did get it before. Maybe Yukirin's no.1 will be, she does have the potential. Another thing is I wonder what everyone's reaction will be if the result would be the same as this year (referring to Acchan being no.1 )
My opinion is Acchan would still maintain her position considering the gap between her and Yuko, Yuki. Plus, management would use the same trick to push her again: massive media appearances and promotions before the election
My worst prediction would be Takamina may drop out of Kami 7

I really can't say. This next election might be very different from previous ones.
Akicha could well be in kami7. Question is who is going to switch places with her? Also, I don't see either Yuko or Atsuko coming in first place this time.

Of course they would have to back down someday but really, with their impressive amount of votes in the current election, I don't see anyone else standing a chance against them (maybe Yuki but it may take another year for her to catch up)

Wow thats some prediction? You did see the huge gap between Maeda and Yuko to the rest of the girls?? Only way one of those isnt getting first is if they both graduate.

There's no one particular that I have in mind. I simply feel things might change a little. Due to being exposed to AKB anywhere you go here in Japan, a lot of people who usually wouldn't care for idols start getting into AKB. The media coverage of this year's election was huge. People you'd least expect to talk about idols suddenly start going on about how it's pretty incredible what those girls are doing. AKB is not just a popular group anymore, it's a social phenomenon. And it's openly referred to as such. There's a lot more casual fans and their gateways into AKB are completely different from how people found out about them in the beginning.

For me:

Hopes
- Team 4 will be treated as a proper team - and also Team 4's original stage.
- The new stages for all teams
- Some upper undergirls have more air time.
- SDN's 4th single will do well, that is their last single before their graduations.
- Wasamin's debut single will be successful.
- AKB has more way to connect with the international fanclub, G+ is a good start.

Fears
- Graduation of old member like Mariko or Yuko.
- Takamina drop in election, she dropped to 6 in 2010 and dropped to 7 in 2011.
- AKB dropped their popularity this year may be their peak.

Predictions
- Another of xxx48, may be TPE48 as well
- New sub-units and solo-lists
- Another Janken tournament

I agree, the only girls who can really challenge Yuko and Acchan,are Yuki and Mariko, plus maybe a few others this year (2012) and they were some way off.....

They can't really do much. Too bad that wotas' power is something that will decide the girls' ranking. Even though she may get decent screen time in PV thanks to the management, they would have to reduce her AKB-related media appearance (well, she already doesn't have much media exposure)

I just saw a new B.L.T magazine (the kimono one to celebrate new year). It features the top 5 of AKB. The thing is, on the cover, Mariko-sama is in the center which is odd because Acchan is always there (for obvious reason). Plus, inside, she got her own page (also strange because again, only Acchan got this privilege). Therefore, I strongly believe that she is gonna graduate very soon, possibly sometime next year. The B.L.T magazine did this as some kind of a farewell present. Well, I could be overreacted, it's just my opinion

* more singles from the subunits especially DiVA
*AKB dominates the world even more.
* Sayaka moves up in senbatsu ranking (this chick deserves it)
*lesser known girls get more coverage
*more danso and ikemen ... ehehehe takaboy

fears:
~ KPOP overtakes AKB declining their popularity
~ Sayaka and Mariko graduating

predictions:
AKB48 still rules. obviously.

I must say I honestly hope that this year there'll be another (at least little) change to the top ranks and to kami7. If it stays the same like last year or defaults back to the '09/'10 ranking, I see a lot of casual fans lose interest in these elections.
Although once girls graduate, it'll be a different story altogether.

Equally hope and fear:

AKB does Tokyo Dome. It's the next step after Seibu Dome. The fear that comes with it is mass-graduation of early generation members. I could very well see this happening; it would be all theatrical and stuff.

Anyways, 4th election and the possible Tokyo Dome performance are going to be the most important events this year.

According to a TGSK blog earlier today 2012 is supposed to be a year of 'reform'.

Wonder what that means. Team shuffles again? Graduations? New Projects? Exciting times

Predictions...SDN graduation is real but not for pursuing their dreams...they will appear exactly the same with 39 members with a new name under a new agency/label... [flip]

I would say though that looking at the year after the elections that rankings dont mean that much really, you're going to be involved if you are and not if your not......
