As SMA's first idol group, the girls were selected from SMA Teens Audition HuAHuA 2013. 13 girls were selected: Riko, Noa, Marin, Maina, Koyoi, Nanako, Kana, Kaede, Rena, Megumi, Ririka, Mao, Tamaki. After a six month audition period where the girls performed several tasks and participated in many interviews the final 7 members were announced at Akiba Cultures Theater in 2014 (which would later become their regular venue): Hashimoto Kana, Arai Noa, Minamibata Maina, Higa Nanako, Ishino Riko, Miyamoto Marin and Momo-oka Koyoi. July 2014 Idol Renaissance released their first single, "17sai" a cover of Base Ball Bear's hit from their album. Following the success of "17sai", Idol Renaissance was signed to the label T-Palette (which also publishes acts such as Sawa, Up Up Girls (Kakko), lyrical school, Negicco) toward the end of 2014, taking "17sai" out of print. In February of 2015 Idol Renaissance released their single "You", a cover of Senri Oe. In July they released Natsu no Kesshin. In September, the trumpet playing leader, Hashimoto Kana, announced her graduation, finishing off with a live filled with live trumpet solos. Just a month after they performed their first one man live at Ebisu The Garden Room. Between November and December, Idol Renaissance released 2 music card singles and a printed single "Funny Bunny" a cover of the pillows. At the end of the year, Idol Renaissance ranked 21 for the best idol music video, with "You." At the same time, Idol Renaissance's trainee unit, Idol Renaissance Kohosei, was announced. After the departure of Hashimoto Kana, it was decided that a proper replacement was in order. The members of the Kohosei unit performed regular shows, and went through an audition process similar to the original lineup. After reaching 50 songs (both published and unpublished) Idol Renaissance released their first album "Our Songs" in March of 2016, the name chosen to commemorate all of the artists who allowed the group to cover their songs. The music videos "Still Love Her" and "Besten Dank" were released to promote the album. June of 2016, Idol Renaissance welcomed 2 new members, Harada Suzuka and Nomoto Yumeka. They also gained a new sister group, All Idol Songs (AIS). July of 2016 "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari" was released. Idol Renaissance announced their fourth one man live for November 6, 2016. All Idol Songs' members are: Miyamoto Marin (Idol Renaissance), Hashimoto Rena, Kurihara Mayu, Asakuma Moe, Shimazaki Yuria, Sekizawa Tomoka, Tokuhisa Haruka and Isomae Sera. While Idol Renaissance will continue to cover all songs, often pre-21st century, All Idol Songs focuses on songs post 2000s. AIS released their first single, "Doki! ... Well... Idol Renaissance has announced a new unit along with their new members. From the cadet program Yumeka and Suzuka were accepted in the group. Marin will be leading a second group called All Idol Songs (AIS) with the rest of the cadets, Moe, Yuria, Tomoka, Rena, Haruka, Mayu and Sera. The pics are on the first post... I guess... Last month at Tsutaya o-east the cadets performed recent songs like Neo Disco by GALETTe*, which seemed to be an allusion to AIS, since they will be focusing on newer songs... At the same concert, each girl left with a heartfelt message, saying that even if they didn't make it into the group, they were thankful for the experience... yeah... Do It For The Aidols (DIFTA) is creating a World Wide Special Project for Idol Renaissance's disbandment! As we all know, the leaders of "Mei-kyouki Renaissance" and SMA's 1st Idol group "Idol Renaissance" will disband this upcoming February 24... :'( The Japanese fans are already on the move and are preparing something, and we, as foreign fans should do something too and as a part of IRWW, we are conducting a project regarding the disbandment of the group.
