Just started on this show and it seems decent so far. However, I feel that it can only end one way; Mikana's character retiring as an idol because you cannot change an industry after all. All depends on how the story leads there (seeing as she seems stressed and developing an interest in the male lead already yeah).

About the song, is there a lyrics version of which line is given to which member because I am not used to their voice yet. Unless I am mistaken (and I probably am), they give most of the lines to Mikana?

EDIT: OK, I just finished the series and by that point I can recognise their voices so it's fine.

The drama is solid although I wished we got to see more of things like the fallout after the sudden graduation announcement, more discussion on the no dating ban, and the practice of fans buying products to vote more than once. Tachibana (Naito) could also be explored more; he gives off some bad vibes. Overall, the show did a decent job at showing why Mimika (Mikana) greaduated. Her last talk with Keita (Kobayashi) - I can accept that ending but had hoped for an epilogue where we see how Mimika, Keita, and Tetra moved on.

So I'm back here after a year! [hehe]

I initially started this drama one year ago when it was airing, and I was enjoying it, I watched 5 episodes back then (and wrote reviews for 4 of them). But then I didn't keep up and until now, I never continued, but finally I took the time! and I actually rewatched it from the start because obviously, after a year, I forgot things lol. This time, I finished it! I watched it all ^^

So my general opinion is that I enjoyed this drama as a whole, I watched it super fast (this time, yes XD), and I liked it. I guess it's worth watching for idol fans yes, the drama is indeed about idols falling in love but the way the story is made is in a way that can be accepted by the general idol fandom lol I knew that a story written by a current idol (Wakapon) wouldn't be scandalous with this (I mean if she implied anything pro-idol romance, it would have made some noise for sure). As for me, yes I like the drama but I also had some mixed feelings, not because of the drama itself, but because I didn't think about idols or the love ban while watching this, and I was hoping that the story would be different haha. but it's just my wish... (yes yes I was liking the "romance", but in the middle of the drama, it took another direction, and even though it was expected, I was sad! >.<)

    I'll say more under spoiler!

So as I said when I talked about the first 4 episodes in the first page of this thread, I really enjoyed the "romance" in this drama. I found it so cute and sweet! I don't even know if we can call it a romance tbh, I mean obviously Mimika and Keita like each other, but they didn't do anything at all in the drama. But they had a special relationship and I liked this... The fact that both of them are depressed and want to die, and start to find happiness and hope in life after meeting each other, encouraging each other, telling each other about things that they like, talking through texts and helping each other, it was a beautiful relationship! it's more than "romance" I think, it's just a beautiful human relationship. The most "romance" thing that they had is when they went on a date at the aquarium, around the middle of the drama, and that was the cutest and funniest episode btw! I really enjoyed watching it, the awkward date from distance, then them getting closer and having fun, it was adorable!

But in the end, this is not a drama about romance, about human relationships, or about getting out of depression, it's firstly a drama about idols and the love ban. and that's what I mean when I say that the story didn't go where I wished for it to go, but at the same time, I knew from the very start that it wouldn't take that direction, there is no way this story would imply that idols falling in love is good. and yet it just made so much sense in this story, like Mimika really needed help, she was so depressed, and I really liked seeing her and Keita get better and better until the date episode, and then right after that episode, the story took another turn with Mimika cutting contact, and it became about the love ban, what an idol should do and shouldn't do... and then the final with Mimika deciding to graduate despite wanting to still be an idol, but she felt like "she ran away" and did wrong as an idol. and despite graduating, she won't see Keita again... I found this a little weird because, I didn't feel like she was ever happy as an idol and she says herself that the idol life is nothing like her dream, so it was confusing that at the end she says that "she wanted to continue but she stops". and she's been depressed, same for Keita, and they got happy by seeing each other, but they both refuse to see each other again even when she has no interdiction from her job, that is weird too... it didn't make much sense for me.

But then I thought about it and I believe that this ending was basically made to promote the "idol ideal". Personally, from seeing this story, in reality, Mimika would graduate because she's unhappy as an idol, and then go on and live a normal life and go out with Keita, that's a more logical ending considering all that happens before (honestly the whole time during the story, I was thinking that she should graduate because she was just so unhappy as idol!). But if they made this kind of ending, it would feel like, it's fine for idols to fall in love and then leave the group to be happy with their lover. and that's technically a "bad" message in the idol world, even though, if we see the context of this story, it's not a bad thing if she did this. But yes it's a "bad" message for idols, while the whole "I still wanted to be idol but I leave because I did wrong as an idol, and I also won't date him after leaving" sounds more like she's sacrificing herself and her happiness as some kind of punishment. Like she can't be "happy" when she leaves, she can start her life again as a non-celebrity and find happiness, but not being "happy" that she left the group and "happy" with the man who she met while being in the group.

and I guess I understand that this is the kind of message that they want to send, but also it didn't make sense to me when it comes to the story. and the second half of the drama was just really sad because it just goes back to depression and all that. and I don't know, I really liked the idea of a story of two people helping each other to have a better life! That's all that I wanted >.< but yes this is a drama about the love ban and idols so I wouldn't have found what I'm looking for here. But the first half of the drama is so nice really, everything until the date. <3 and as I said, I appreciated the drama overall, even the second half, it was interesting, even though I have some mixed feelings, but it's a good drama!
