That's interesting. Because it's always seemed really common for me to see companies get exclusive deals with people in Japan. Like how you can't really switch talent agencies. Or how mangaka will be exclusive with Shueisha or a similar company. I assumed that might have also been the case with composers.

 

I don't think that'll be the case. I believe even in Japan most composers are doing one-shot works, one at a time. Having just a single composer working exclusively for an artist might not be a good idea since you will expect similar vibes on each song.

Seeing this one, I felt the impact much stronger compared to the MV

 

Yeah, I wasn't expecting a one per artist type of arrangement. Just more like exclusive to Sony, or Avex or whatever. Like they would have a salary plus bonus and be able to use the company's studios(since a real pro studio is extremely expensive).

That sounds paranoid to me, as a fan of both Neru and Techi, but maybe. Or maybe they thought earning maybe $100,000 from the photobook (semi-informed guess) was enough for one year. Or maybe it's because she's not one of the better dancers in a dance-heavy MV. Or maybe it just worked out that way when the director did the edits. But maybe.

This is unfair and excessive, but it's how I feel too. Would a million in sales do anything to quiet the furore? I thought not. I guess my short history of being an idol fan means I don't really get it about the group being more important than the product. Although as I see the slightly concealed dissatisfaction among some members (and get more attached to my oshis), perhaps I'm beginning to.

Neru is still the "hidden" center in this single. Right behind Techi. that was not a coincidence.

I'm not a fan of the background color either, more contrast would have helped.
On the other hand I think I have the same jacket as Kanji somewhere... gotta search for it
