After graduating from HKT48, Kodama Haruka, who is starting her acting career in earnest, will take on the role of a mother for the first time in the starring movie "From the World without Sky" (released nationwide from Friday, October 21st). The story focuses on the current situation of single mothers in Japan and the reality of children who have no family register due to the influence of their parents and the environment in which they grew up. Until then, Kodama hadn't really been interested in getting married or having children, but through her work, she simulated her love as a mother. We interviewed Kodama about his acting career, which has been in his third year, the stimulation he got from the work, and his view on marriage. We also talked about his success in gravure, such as releasing on Friday, May 25th.

――First of all, please tell us your impressions after reading the script for this work.
It was a role that I had never played before, so I thought it would be a great opportunity for people to get to know actress Kodama Haruka. Maybe it's a remnant of my idol days, but there were a lot of bright roles and student roles, so I felt that it was very rewarding to play a role with a "shadow" image like this time.

――Were there any difficulties in taking on new challenges?
It was difficult. It took me a while to solidify the image in myself. I had a lot of discussions with the director, and I did my research by watching movies that dealt with single mothers and mukoseki.

――What did you actually have in mind when you were acting?
I felt that the appearance of a "mother" was different from that of a woman who hadn't given birth to a child, so I was conscious of whether I could create that. For me, it was nothing more than a world of imagination, but I think I was able to create a role in my own way and experience a simulated love for a child.

--Do you like children?
I fell in love with it. Until then, I had little interest in getting married or becoming a mother. There are so many things I want to do, I want to work, and I only thought that my life is fun, but after finishing this work, I realized that children are wonderful beings.

I may be 26 years old soon (at the time of the interview), but I think that this work has had a great impact on me as an actress and in my life, including the birth of such thoughts.
