I think that would be the worst thing that could happen ... if you had the once in a lifetime chance to have a night on the town with Mako and Takamina ...... and they started talking about football the whole evening :/
(but just for them I would try to appear interested though )

 

The most likely answer is No. The actual answer is we don't know.

She said in her IG Live a while ago "I won't participate in 55th single. Probably." I assume that "Probably" referred to coupling song which might not be decided yet. She probably isn't allowed to reveal senbatsu lineup at that time, so it is more possible that she requested it herself.

We can guess that the work on 29-31 January is senbatsu work with very high probabilities. The fact is that: 1) She went to salon on 29th with Shimada. It's a lesson day so it does not 100% rule her out. 2) She is only active on SNS at night on both 30th and 31st. This means it is entirely possible that she actually participated in the MV Shooting guessed to be on those two days. But we saw no photographic evidence of her being there whatsoever (and that include private mail of members. AFAIK there's none.)

So, yeah. The most likely answer is No. The actual answer is we don't know. But I wouldn't get my hope up.

EDIT Confirmed she's not in 55th if 29-31 is actually new single Lesson&MV Shooting. She just mentioned in IG Live that she hasn't met Juri recently.

But how many of them are there? IMO, there is not that many dedicated Mako fans compared to other members. She could probably sell out a concert, sure, as there she has a lot of casual fans here, but there are not that many big spender. That explained why 1) Her abysmal HS sales and 2) Why she couldn't get into senbatsu in SSK. But at least I respected her for not playing "Last SSK" card (even though most of us kinda knows already)

I won't stop being AKB48 fas. It's a place where dream is born, and Mako proved that to us. I won't go all out as before (i.e. breaking the bank for SSK), but I will continue my support. I am pretty fond of Team K as a whole right now (and it does help that apart from Naachan and Juri almost all my faves are here).

 

I don't think anyone who read this thread won't already know this anyway from other sources, but here goes:

• Not in #55 Senbatsu
• Not in #55 Handshake
• No graduation song. Probably won't be in any song, as the unknown member song are only "AKB48 Coupling Senbatsu" and "[New Unit]". It's likely that AKB48 Coupling Senbatsu is doing MV shooting today so I will report back if I have more information on this.

(Note: I don't follow the 55th single thread, and when I saw I was tagged there the senbatsu has already been announced lol)

 

Euh, as you might have noticed Miichan is my kami oshi .... and while I'm disappointed that Miichan has been left out of another single, I still need to point out that Miichan has hardly been 'shafted' by management if you look at the list of her single participations.
39 A-sides, too many to count B-Sides (I'm just lazy) .... and many after 2013 in which she was consistently in the 'undergirls' during the SSK.
(but as this is the last single with Sasshii and they are friends ... well .... it's kinda ..., iirc correctly she was included in the last single centered by mayuyu (and I never got the idea that Miichan and Myuyu were all that close) )

(btw, I would prefer Miichan in a prominent position in a B-side like with Shiichan's center in stead of her in the third row on the extreme right or left in a 30+ girl senbatsu)

Ok, on to the point where I'm bound to get a few dislikes.

As much as I like Mako, and as much as I wish they would give her a good sendoff .... I still would also like to point out she never ranked above 19 in the SSK (if she had decided to stay another year, who knows what would have happened)

I guess AKS is looking at the future ... and not that much at the past.

 

I used to think that, until I start living in Japan.

Everything is about A-side, even if you are the last of 30+ senbatsu. B-side never get any publicity at all.

Unrelated, and just FYI, my current information stated that Mako is not in any of the 55th single C/W. Of course I would be wrong, but I really stop expecting anything since Mako told us in IG Live.

Just want to summarise a list of facts and speculations regarding the graduation here.

FACTS:

• No, she didn't have any plan to debut in Korea. (IG Story on Jan 31)
• No participation in 55th Single Handshake AND A-Side.
• No graduation concert (from IG Live) She did say she kinda wanted this one.
• No graduation song (unless it's going to be in the 56th single... unlikely)
• Last individual handshake is 6th May, and she herself is quite annoyed that the NWM resale she was told about hasn't occurred (IG Story on Feb 5)
• She promised to organised a fan-meeting regularly. (Speech & IG Story) Actually, all previous individual fan-meeting was organised by her agency and not AKS.
• Postponed Korean fan-meeting will be after graduation. (IG Story)
• Scrap & Build was definitely chosen to be performed after her graduation announcement (lol). (Seriously, go check its lyrics if you haven't done so already)

Speculations:

• No participating AT ALL for 55th single. (High probability of schedule conflict on the date with high probability of MV shooting of B-side songs)
• Knowing Mako, I find that it is very probable that she requested no participation by herself.
• High probability that there will be official fanclubs after graduation. When she was asked this on IG Story, she answered with "Please wait for the announcement". Sounds like a confirmation to me (lol)
• With Korean debut ruled out, the most likely is that she will work in fashion. Most of this is unclear, but she said she will continue to contribute to 48G, and frankly the only thing I can think of is UNEEDNOW, which is actually formed after Mako has pretty much ventured into fashion industry. (It surprised my at that time that Mako was not part of it) This is just my wild speculation though.

 

Not to derail the thread, but in case of Miichan, she has build quite healthy media presence by now, appearing in Downtown, Utage etc. I don't think being in the back row of a senbatsu will do all that that much for her career ... so I'll be selfish and say I like the screen time she got with Shiichan in the 'Ike no Mizu wo Nukitai' (who btw is building a nice career for herself as well, right now) (but then again, they both are more seen as variety types ... not 'real' idols, and AKBingo made their career more then any senbatsu I would dare to say)

 

Wel... yeah I can't argue with that. That's kinda the exception to norm of B-side in term of publicity though. Normal B-side doesn't get any screen time at all.
