This was part of the "AKB48 Ai Sousenkyou" that we talked about and the reason why Komi won in the end. It's really endearing to watch.

I'm very happy with Hohoemi no Toki's MV since naturally, as the center, Komi had a lot of screen time. Good for Komi since she somehow got shafted in #Sukinanda's Next Girls MV even though she's supposed to be a front member in that song. Hohoemi no Toki's second part was a bit creepy though with that marionette concept.

And since I can't access SNS properly I'll only post that Komi's going to be in MAMA, I've never watched it live(I watch the videos on YouTube afterwards) but I think this time I will to support her and the rest of the girls. And then there's also the NHK performance that she may or may not be on, hopefully she'll be on.

Komi appeared on Mama today with the rest of AKB and had a collab stage with IOI(Chungha,Weki Meki,Pristin) and she was one of the members with the most screentime because the camera was messy lol

I'm so happy that she got so much screentime(or maybe I just think she did since I could point her out even in those hoorible wide shots) but I wish they at least tried with the camera to show more of the girls. Either way I'm just so happy to see Komi perform on MAMA and it was the highlight for me, although I went to sleep right after the performance ended

 

the camera for the whole event was very messy
during the Seventeen's performance the camera focused on the audience for more than 15 seconds and then there was a shot of Twice preparing to perform next
everything was so awkward i'm surprised Komi got so much screentime lol

 

Tis I - Your KPOP hero (LOL!) - Yes as many of you might have guessed this is a MAJOR Big WIN for Komi-Haru. Yes- The KPOP Queens did seem to like her- such as Kim Doyeon (IOI,Weki Meki). Her placement was NO Accident. ChungHa might've been the 'Secret Center' of "KFC" because the Camera seemed to keep her in most of the main shots. KIM & KomiHaru sizzled at the Flank. PINKY (of I.O.I. & Pristin) looked very nice but she had her back to Komi & ChungHa - so No Matter what angle the Camera man chose he was getting Top visual representation.

In KPOP terms - Komi is the "Visual" (the hook). They didn't seemed to want to stay on Mion very much (Odd considering she's the 'Future')- It might've been since she looked smaller next to the other gals.

Okada Nana had decent placement in "Hebe-Rota"- She Doll'ed it up a bit. Surprised KojiMako wasn't there. KOMI's placement in such a high-profile event (Global coverage) might mean they NEED her energy after Yukirin grads.

Just note- THIS is what AKB48 looks like w/out Sakura, Sayaka, Jurina, Sashi, Haruppi, Rika, Suda, Moeka...and ALL the 'Sister Faces' we've gotten used to.

The clip of AKB48 doing "Pick Me Up" made me Laugh... You see the I.O.I. alums (& IDOL School_1) do a Polished song (they could do in their sleep) then you see AKB48 at the end & it's like the hardest I've seen AKB48 Dance since early 2015- lol. So you realize how 'watered down' they made it for AKB48- Watch the same song "Pick Me Up" performed by I.O.I. 1 year earlier at the 2016 MAMA's

ALL of these songs were popular in 2017 & I saw performed on various KPOP shows - What did AKB bring to the table?? a Song from 2011? & "KFC" from 2013 (that was 4 1/2 years ago)- Keyakizaki might've been a better choice in terms of being "Modern" but they're a tad 'moody'.

You see those KPOP dudes bopping their heads? You want that in a POP song right? I know AKB has become a different animal but match "UZA" or "Komongegix" or "Make Noise" (HKT) up against the last few years of AKB48 & you see AKB48 has been ASLEEP compared to what's possible in modern POP music. Is it "POP" for 'Popular' or "POP" cause it 'Pops'? - lol. KOMI can POP. She deserves BETTER Challenges.

Komi could be in Pristin or Weki Meki tomorrow - I doubt many AKB48 gals could.

 

The I.O.I. performance has far fewer members on stage than the AKB x Weki Meki, so it would be fair to assume that they watered it down not because AKB was on stage but because it's hard to coordinate a song for such a huge group. AKB has a big amount of really good dancers. I will take this opportunity to shamelessly promo my oshi Tano-chan, who is an exceptional dancer (sadly, she was not part of Pick Me):

Have you seen the choreo for River, UZA, Beginner, Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai? AKB has proven a few times that they can dance pretty well, and if you want to push that on older members, I would suggest you to watch the currently running Kamikyouku Shibari stage at least once. AKB has many great and amazing dancers that are still in the group, so if you haven't seen a great dance performance since 2015 that's because you're not paying attention.

And it's pop for popular. Seeing as AKB48 still has a 1M streak running and since they had the best selling album by a girlgroup in 2017 (selling more than twice as much as Korea's best selling girlgroup), it's safe to say AKB are still fairly popular.

Maybe your original intent was to praise Komi, but as always, your comment turned into an "AKB48 vs K-Pop" thing with your usual conclusion how K-Pop is just so much better than AKB48. I honestly don't understand why you're on this forum if your posts always end in a comparison with K-Pop and you saying K-Pop is better anway. I actually really like Tano - she's Very Pretty. She is Kami 7 level talent!. No Argument!. Dances with a fire & passion most AKB gals forgot...I didn't mention her cause as you said SHE WAS NOT Involved.

I said specifically CHOSE the year 2015 (guess why?) because it was when "Bokutachi wa T..." was released ALL other examples are "OLDER" than that- We've ALL been using 'Beginner' & "UZA" & River (one could even include: Team K's "How Come?" & NMB48's "Komonegix", "Must Be Now" in this argument)- WE know they "COULD Dance" if AKI-P would let them...but this May it will be 3 YEARS since they've broken a sweat- Rest Times OVER!

I was into JPOP & Japan Idols FIRST since 2010 w/ "K-On!" & various Anime singer Seiyuu's & groups like "Scandal", "Sphere", & "Kalafina" (via my Anime interests)- 2012 got into AKB48 (& MomoClo & SuperGirls) and that sustained me till around LATE 2015 when the wheels started falling off AKB48's wagon

I was promised "Chapter 2" of AKB48 & all I'm getting is Graduations, NO Promotion of Next Gens?, No New Stages, & sister groups rising while AKB48 "phones it in" w/ Ego-Singles & Slow Singles or Disco Rehashes... I WANT & deserve BETTER from AKI-P. and MY Girls (mainly team 4) Deserve BETTER! WE ALL want AKB48 to keep evolving & get off the couch & stop eating' cheetos & GET Motivated.

Because I'm being "Critical" & want BETTER doesn't make me LESS of a Fan (One could argue I care MORE!)

Having said that - I drifted into KPOP early 2016 because AKB48 is Not TRYING hard enough in my Opinion & yet Now look at AKI-P & AKS...suddenly hitched his Wagon to KPOP or did "Produce 101" look at AKB & say -"Hey, we can do that! & maybe do it better!"(That's debateable)- And now we're (YOU & I) are discussing a AKB & KPOP collaboration (Right?) I don't think KPOP is better - It currently is TRYING Harder & wants to Up the Bar of what we call "Idol Culture"- KPOP went to Japan - AKB isn't invading Korea. Even the Chinese are improving AKI-P's "Original Design" for AKB & making it their own thing (Good for them) AKI-P has been 'Asleep' for 2 years (or Promoting other PET Groups) while Others are eating his lunch- If I told you a year ago AKB48 would be collaborating w/ KPOP in Japan singing "Heavy Rotation" we'd ALL Laugh....Now, it's not so Funny. AKI-P could ignore KPOP's advancements & stay an Isolationist but even he figured out "The Game has Changed"- I want AKB to become BETTER, I don't care How. The fact I'm able to enjoy BOTH means I probably more "Open minded" & adaptive than you think - but then you don't really know me.

I'm excited AKB48 is trying something of this magnitude- I thought AKI-P would wait till the NEXT Election to 'Maybe' Try something like this- 1 Summer is all it took to 'slap his face' & remind him ANY Asian Country can make an Idol Group & if it's NOT his Idols, it'll be someone elses- "IDOLS" are bigger than YOU, ME, Stage48, China, Korea, Japan & the Moon- like "Waifus" in ANIME (Japan's Otaku culture) - People NEED Girls (or Idols?) to cheer on, protect, empathize with, & perform their hearts out....AKB48's been ASLEEP for over a year.

Like I said, there have been a few performances with good choreo, with current dance members. To show that there's AKB girls that can dance the stage "Kamikyouku Shibari" was even invented. That's why, on the single, there is a B-Side by 'Dance Senbatsu.' The last big concert we've had was Mayuyu's grad con and we all know dancing was not her forte, thus there was not much heavy dancing at her grad con. The one before that was the AKB48 Group Kanshasai ~Rank-in Concert~ with a setlist containing e.g. Pareo wa Emerald (more of a cutesy song, but SKE has always had more difficult choreo and I would argue it's quite a good one), Escape, Iiwake Maybe (one of my favourite choreos), NGZK46's Fukyouwaon, Akai Pin Heel to Professor... I will agree that the majority of those songs have been released a while ago, however, they are performing them, there's plenty of members that can dance.

Correct me if I'm wrong but... this thread is about Komiyama. And not about a AKB x K-Pop collaboration? And you never talked about the collab, neither did I. You talked about how the K-Pop bands are performing so much better at the MAMA. I'm sure the intent for this thread was never about K-Pop.

That's because I don't think they need it. Japan has one of the biggest music markets in the world (after the US) with South Korea in 8th place. It makes totally sense that K-Pop acts are trying to expand outside of Korea, because then they will earn more money. Sure, international fans are great but I doubt their record labels really care about that. The fact that Korean bands make Japanese music (which I have listened to. I love BLACKPINK's EP, for example) shows how strong the Japanese music market is. Also western acts such as Ariana Grande have made a Limited Japan Edition and Little Mix, currently the most succesful western girl group, even recorded one of their songs, Wings, in Japanese; they will also kick off their next tour in Japan at the Pop Spring Fest in March.

K-Pop needs Japan more than J-Pop needs Korea.Sorry for the tough love.

It's totally great that you listen to more than just one band! I think that closedmindedness by many people who only listen to one band can surely lead to unnecessary arguments. But, in my opinion, being able to enjoy both does not mean that you have to constantly compare them. Can you guess, simply from my posts on this forum, who else I listen to? Which other bands or singers or idols I follow? I actually listen to a lot of different music, from different countries. But I just don't see the point in always pitting them against each other. Can't I enjoy AKB without having to compare them to other groups or singers I listen to? Like, that's exactly why I listen to more than just one band - because I want to see them do different things and make different music.

About new ge promo, I haven't been around long enough to judge what's different between this gen and previous ones, frankly, because I never really cared for KKS before promotion (sorry). One of the AKB 16-ki was on "AKB Ai Sousenkyou" a while ago, together with Komi, Yuihan, TaniMegu, and a few others. It was just a handful of members on during a 2h special, and you've already got Komi and Megu as 15-ki representants and a girl from 16-ki.
