Any news from Sakura?
It's been months since we didn't hear something about her (except her comestics brand).

 

The group is planned to debut this year
The name of the group is supposedly going to be Lesserafim

 

Will it be Les Serafim I wonder, that would be something like The Angels in French.

 

That's at least the rumor and it would fit the Hangul (레세라핌). But as far as I know, there is no official confirmation yet, so who knows what HYBE/Ador is planning.

 

It's a clever name....I'm just not sure if it's a good one.

I saw someone on twitter saying a 4 syllable name is too long for a k-pop group and I think they might be right. It just doesn't have the same immediate impact as a name like Blackpink, Twice, Izone, Itzy etc.

 

If you go by the hangul, all the names you mentioned above (except Itzy) have 4 characters, but I guess you are obviously talking about the english name, so yeah it's basically true, unless you are Girls' Generation.

Lesserafim is an okay name I guess.

I'm sorry but that person has no idea what they're talking about. Most famous Kpop groups have names with 4 or more syllables.

Blackpink > 블랙핑크 > bu-laek-pin-keu (4 characters)

Twice > 트와이스 > teu-wa-i-seu (4 characters)

IZ*ONE > 아이즈원 > a-i-jeu-wan (4 characters)

ITZY > 있지 > itt-ji (2 characters)

Girls' Generation (Sonyeo Sidae) > 소녀시대 > so-nyeo-shi-dae (4 characters)

BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) 방탄소년단 > bang-tan-so-nyeon-dan (5 characters)

Stray Kids > 스트레이 키즈 > seu-teu-rae-i ki-jeu (2 words, 6 characters)

Monsta X > 몬스타엑스 > mon-seu-ta-aek-seu (5 characters)

The bigger issue I have with the name is the fact that I've seen some Jewish people on social media being unhappy with the name, as it's a significant/sacred group of angels within their religion. But as for now, it's all just rumours so we'll have to wait and see what happens in the next few months.

 

Former IZ*ONE Member Sakura Was Criticized By Korean Netizens
Miyawaki Sakura, who was active in the group ‘IZ*ONE‘, is being criticized by Korean netizens for her birthday advertisements from Chinese fans.
On February 28, Sakura’s Chinese fans installed Sakura’s birthday billboard at Samsung Station.

This ad will run for one month until March 31st. but as a controversy arose, the Seoul Transportation Corporation took down the billboard around 1 pm on the same day.

It's not Sakura who is being criticizied.

I genuinely didn't realise the background image is basically a pink version of the rising sun flag. Based on the response from the Chinese fan club it seems it wasn't intentional. Tbh I'd be surprised if it were, cause China has probably similar sentiments about Imperial Japan as South Korea does (cmiiw).

Hopefully they can put up a new ad with a new design.
