It is a vehicle tax payment system.
And, yes, one should be wondering why exactly they got idols who are too young to even drive and an amusement park style mascot to promote such a thing...
But, this is Japan we are talking about, and it seems like the government's has this whole gimmick is to make everything as cutesy as possible.
It is a country that when they put up roadblocks for construction? They make the roadblocks in the shape of pink bunny rabbits or lime green frogs or teal penguins or bright orange monkeys or tanukis.

So... yeah... promoting a vehicle tax payment system as though you were promoting a children's indoor playground? Makes perfect sense.

I live in Japan currently.
And a Tanuki is the animal that Yuutan dressed up as or would use images of.

Point I was making though... things that have to do with government or civics that one would think would be approached with a serious tone are... generally quite the opposite. Besides the example of road blocks, you'll regularly see everything from signs posted to encourage good behavior in parks or trains or other public places or general community information pamphlets depicted using cartoon imagery. And tons of cities, even small ones, tend to have their own cartoonish mascots.

So even though this was an event that one would ask 'why would this involve idols?'-- it just isn't as surprising as it maybe should be.

Ooh... I see. When you said cartoonish mascots, I stated thinking about Singa, the mascot for Kindness moment back home. I hope he came back though, because her resign as an ambassador of Kindness 2 years ago. It's pretty sad to be exact, considering he's part of my childhood.

She sent out a long member mail today.

Basically it said that while she feels less stressed not being in the election, she also feels bad about disappointing everyone.

And now that she has thought about it more, she realizes that she probably does have the power to rank in if she had just run.
But, she was just so afraid of a bad result that she ran away. And that's on her.
If she had more confidence in herself, she would have run.
She is the problem.

She doesn't know why she feels so down on herself so often.
And she probably should have written about what she was thinking about in the member mail.
She probably should have talked to someone about it.

But she is afraid she will be scolded if she talks about how depressed she is-- so she stays silent on it.

And that's just not good.

She says she wrote this without really thinking much about what she was going to write.
And she will write more about this later.
