Also, as a comprehensive summary of what has been shown in there:

• The PV director, Yamato Yuki, personally went to Niigata to have a talk with each individual member first, before beginning the shootings. Based on the impression she got of them at the time, she then proceeded to create the fictional story of the PV.

Like it has been mentioned here and there in the past, regardless of how readily evident it is inside the video, each single member is supposed to play a specific role with its own unique background. The girls were made aware of it during the production. Among them, going by what is told in this behind-the-scenes:

• Hinatan is the childhood friend of Yuka, and she thinks fondly of her ...or rather, she really loves her.
• Noepii is the always cheerful and energetic one, which is the reason she is the only to wear a short-sleeved uniform.
• Ayanyan is a girl who's especially good at hair styling. And "for some mysterious reasons", she happens to be the only one to wear glasses.
• Kado-chan is the "mascot character" beloved by everyone...
• Anju is a girl who's great at singing and has a good sense of rythm. "Therefore I'm keeping my throat protected with a mask... I mean a scarf."
• Renapon is the captain of the school's athletic club, therefore she can't stop thinking about doing physical exercises and strives to run faster than anyone else.
• Tsugumin is a newly-arrived student with a very bashful personality.
• Ayakani is a girl with a frail health condition, like for example being prone to have sudden stomach-aches.
• Gatanee is the honor student in this situation. Anju: "It doesn't suit her at all", Gatanee: "Hold on! It suits me somehow, if anything."
• Maho is the cool gorgeous girl, so to match the setup she also gets to wear stylish clothes.
• Mofu is the glutton character, "even though it's actually not a character" as she herself admits. Katomina: "She would eat even though she was in the middle of a test, but not in the actual performance apparently"
• And then, among such a varied character setting... Katomina is a girl who broke her left hand and (for that) she harbors a feeling of despair, which the caption points out as being a rather complex role. Mofu: "Amazing, it looks as if you may really harbor some hidden sorrow", Katomina: "Cut it out!"
• The caption also says Rie is a school senior with a cold and detached personality who used to be a legendary idol during her student years. Yukirin is another senior who used to be a legendary idol during her student years, but gentle-mannered.

• The color of the ribbons on the uniforms reflects the respective school years of the characters, with green being first, red being second, and blue being third.
• This was not mentioned in the video itself, but I'm adding it because it is also worth knowing. There's also reason for the neckties being so long, to the point of hanging lower than the jackets.
  As Ogiyuka pointed out on Showroom first and then on radio, Shinobu explained to them that she could perceive that, also thanks to support from fans, NGT is progressing exceptionally well in some particular aspects (though Ogiyuka doesn't know if she meant the Sousenkyo or the 2017 Request Hour), and so she intended to represent this growth with the necktie's extra length.
• Someone already figured it out before, but the red fabric that appears in the video (in the form of banners, ribbon decorations and Ogiyuka's hair ribbon) represents a continuity with Seishun Dokei, and they are in fact made out of the same fabric of its costumes.

• For the sake of record, the staircase scene was another aspect of the PV that received particular attention, and the choice of the setting came from a direct proposal by the director. Since this time around the song has the sky as its theme, they sought to give a visual sense of vastness. The staircase served the purpose, in that it was a location that was wide while at the same time also giving a sense of three-dimensionality/elevation (rather than feeling flat) and depth.

By the way, yeah, at the end of the making-of it's really Maho riding on Riko's shoulders (ostensibly, as a personal way to wish that the single would turn out a success). (*´∀｀)

 

So much thought and skill went into the music video, it's truly amazing. Since the cuts are so fast and many, one really needs to watch the mv several times to get the most out of it. Next time I am gonna check the mv again with the character roles in mind.

Wow I knew those were familiar. I love this detail so much. I wish Ogiyuka would wear the red ribbon occasionally. It fit her really well in the mv.
