I'm under the impression that billboard numbers will always be higher than oricon numbers because they count everything, as opposed to oricon who has some restrictions with their tally. Any particular reason why it happens to Nogi? I'm really confused.

    They have different counting systems.
From my understanding, they derive their figures from samples, not from actually counting each sale.
But that's just what I read around here. Neither source is entirely open about it.
It could be that Billboard has it's own rules.

They only release the figures for the 5 best selling singles each week and
looking at last week, V6 and Idolmaster also sold more in Oricon than on Billboard,
though the other three songs (AKB's, Flumpools and Map6) sold less.

It could be really common for Billboard to report lower figures
but just seems normal for them to be higher because 48G seem to fall into Oricon's restrictions by big amounts.

    http://www.billboard-japan.com/d_news/detail/49169
Incidentally, some may notice they refer to the figure I mentioned (782,887, their day 1) as their first three days, but this includes time not on sale.
In fact, I remember this figure leaked earlier than Oricon's day 1.

@kanjo Thanks for answering. That makes some sense, I guess. I've been seeing 48G fans argue about the accuracy of both Oricon and Billboard numbers. Ever since the (slightly) declining sales reported by Oricon, most of the fans now seem to turn to Billboard as the more accurate report since it always has the higher sales compared to Oricon these days. But from what you said, it's obvious that Billboard isn't also really counting everything, either.

On another note, can the higher Oricon sales be interpreted to mean that Nogi have more people (aka general public) buying this single, as opposed to just wotas buying CDs by the bulk? I would think it's the latter scenario that would account for a lower Oricon numbers, because of it's restrictions.

I'm sure there's still a lot of bulk, but perhaps less serious bulk.
Perhaps also less overseas sales as Oricon don't count them, but it's hard to see that being an issue worth hundreds of thousands of copies for "idols you can meet".

Incidentally I've been playing with the figures trying to imagine how much sales a full 880 slots would be and the numbers really go against anything over 700k copies.
Even 700k would imply basically no time for handshaking (especially if you include time to remove and replace the fans), so I'd guess 660k for a full 880 slots (750 tickets per slot)
And with 743 slots sold, that would be only 560k from Individual HS sales. If Nogi is selling 340k non-ko'aku sales, that would suggest much less bulk buying.

Just got my CDs today. Some impressions...
    • The design is really pretty. The pastel colors really pop. I almost didn't want to open the packaging.
    • How is Fuuzen not the B side to Influencer's A side?
    • The member's new uniform is growing on me.
    • It's great to have the member PVs back.
    • The 3rd Gens on the back cover of D and the Regular editions.
    • There really isn't a song on this single to fast forward through.
    • I always get Regular Edition promo posters
    • I didn't get any 3rd Gen in any of the included photos!

875k subject to rounding -> 874.5k, rounded up to three significant figures...surely over 875k though already.

    Total 3rd gen 136/180 (+7) [75.56%]
    748/790 (+18) Last Single (Increase/Decrease over 16th Single 7th Round)

I've been using the full sales from last single as a comparison but there's another school of thought.
Some Japanese HS reporters will exclude unavailable members from the previous singles HS sales because they can't sell this round.
If I were to do that, the last single's 7th round would show 598/640, which highlights the huge growth brought by the 3rd gen.

Im dying for live performance from all songs in this single. Where are they? Even under didnt has live performance yet. Blanco i think is quite promoted with 3 or 4 tv performance.

Wasn't that because it was during the end of year celebrations so that there are more opportunities in more shows for the group to be invited?

I too want to see Fuuzen as well

    - Senbatsu only needs 3 more slots to be sold out, which are Ikoma's
    - Trio Unders front are sold out
    - Tamachan is sold out, but maybe because it's considered 'late', didn't get additional slots. Ririan is close, one may think she will be sold out next round (and maybe Rentan too)

    So far so good.

I wasn't thinking about that when they announced that reviewn app, but if someone does upload somewhere I wouldn't mind seeing.

I was hoping after hearing about the reviewn app that I would be able to use these HS tickets that I got with the 17th single to be able to watch the mini-live myself, but since you have to exchange a ticket in person, I guess I can't. It's a disappointment.

Reading Iori's blog post today, I really would've liked to have seen the mini-live. She subs for Hinachima in Influencer. Now that's interesting because I wonder how well Unders will do the dance when they have to sub for senbatsu members.

Anyhow, I wish we could always see the mini-lives from these HS events...

I love white uniforms. That always looks nice.

That front three of 3rd gen is visually insane.

@husna212 Yes! Thanks for that. Hopefully we can dig up more of the mini-lives online.

You catch glimpses of the newer uniforms in both Kawago's and Chiharu's latest blog posts (2017.04.01). I wonder if the jacket style would make dancing Influencer a bit more difficult?

    Nanase's pony tail! *sigh*

Third Gen. 3rd Gen! I wonder how receptive the crowd was?

Dang. No Unders and Fuuzen? I want to see how awesome they look.
