Single Nogizaka46 39th [Same numbers] (2025/07/30)

10/11 5ki again lmao—such a strong gen and yet management doesn't want to push a new center. Honestly this feels like the end of the road for anyone hoping for a new 5ki center. Next single is quite obviously gonna be a 6ki center, followed by another Nagi/Saku rinse-repeat for winter single.

Congrats to Kaki nonetheless, she's definitely the safest choice for a summer single. Also given her lack for magazine/drama contracts she certainly deserves the spotlight.

No Mayutan tho... can only mean Under Center or G-word

• YESSSS KAKKI SUMMER CENTER FOR THE WIN
• Omg Miku-Sakutan wing in front! Now that´s interesting! I think they form a good pair and Mikkyun has strong summer vibes so it´s a win in my opinion.
• No Mayutan???? Wow. She is easily top 4 4ki and is now in under?? This is a g-word flag
• I thought Aya would be fukujin at least
• This small senbatsu really hit 4ki. Runa and Yanchan back to under.
• Congrats Okamoto on your first senbatsu!

 

I was.... shocked lmao. Kakki center it's kinda predictable. But I don't expect such low senbatsu number. Butt verryy happy for SakuMiku center wing, especially recently fans have been hyping up this SakuMiku couple loll. Also shocked that mayu is dropped but happy that hina is finally in senbatsu. Yeah mixed feeling honestly.

 

Well, I still love Kaki so I'm not mad at this selection. Not too excited but still happy. Besides, she probably need this. She haven't got much outside project other than that coming drama with Ayame. This could be an added boost she can use.

I also like the fact that Endo, Nagi and Aruno were all placed 2nd row then put 2 fresh/er faces in front with Kaki. I would compare this move to Aya-Teresa front row. It's not the same old faces in front. At least not all.

I forgot about Runa. Well, she already enjoyed 2 consecutive selections like Iroha so it's all good. Congrats to Okamoto. Guess Yakubo's only chance now is Endo graduation.

So it's gonna be Mitsuki 6th gen center. Mayu Under center? Graduation gift? I think that's the most surprising part of this Senbatsu for me.

 

Wow, the big shock here is no Mayutan. She's 3rd or 4th of the 4th gen and gets dropped to unders.

Other possibility is she'll be graduating and isn't participating in this single. If she is unders I think she'll take the center place and will be unders for one single only

 

3rd in 4ki is Ayame

 

I begin to think management will push mao for outside job more, just like how they treat mizuki. She has the quality that entertainment industry wants.

Entertainment staff recognize her (and not her member), her appearance in her drama is long. Her popularity is rising, top 2 among 5ki currently, just slightly below nagi. She appears in magazine, have photobook, have her own drama where she is the mainlead, guest star in a soccer match, samsung CM, exhibition guest star, etc.

Mao is booked and busy, so the management doesn't push her anymore as pillar. It has happened to ikuta, mizuki and now to mao. I see a pattern, sometimes when a member is too sellable, they will focus that member for outside job more. I believe she will eventually get her center position (just like I believe aruno nagi w center from yrs ago), but not for now.

That’s such a bad idea because let’s be honest. I may like KakkiSaku but they lack recognition and popularity. To the point that even Nagi is starting to surpass or may have surpassed Kakki. Mizuki should have gotten way more center and Mgmt totally fumbled her. She was funny, pretty and idol like they should have used her more. Same for Yoda and most 3ki. Post Nishino-Maiyan should have been about 3ki but they pushed 4ki so much and now 6 years after their debut, only two of them are really popular and those two popularity ain’t enough to lead a group…

 

well that was not predictable at all (at least for me)! They have been doing bigger senbatsu and 5-front member, I have never imagined them going back to 16-nin having 3 front members!! The last 16-nin senbatsu was 9 years ago with hadashi de summer and 3 front members was more than a decade ago!

some more thoughts:

• endo centering hodoukyou made me think management pushes her as the face of the group, and at the rate of new members coming in, i only have hope for kakki to center a graduation single… i am glad i was wrong (lets hope this really is not kakki’s grad single lol), congrats kakki for another center!
• on another hand, they are playing it safe… nogi only has 5 active centers (4 solo and 1 wcenter experience), they could really give teresa center…
• okahina finally made it! and even to a 16-nin senbatsu!! this marks the first generation in nogi to have all its members take part in senbatsu where the center is not graduating same-gen right? 5ki is insane!
• i really wished runa would stay… especially seeing her on outside tv shows and trying to be more involved in kojichuu… mayutan and yanchan dropped together was also not in my book…
• front member screams “summer” so we better get the summer song coming!!
• at least we have 2 new front members from 5ki!! at the expense of dropping endo and nagi to 2nd row…

interesting fact - endo and kakki have always been at the same row since debut until this single, where kakki is front row while endo is second row. This also makes kakki the active member with most front row at 12 singles!
edit: another interesting fact - miku and mao too have always been at the same row since their senbatsu debut, but not anymore with this single miku at the front while mao at the back

 

I think 16nin Senbatsu is reasonable, knowing only 28 active members, excluding 6ki. After this single and when 6ki enter Senbatsu, we will get the usual Senbatsu size.
Congratulation to Kakki. I'm happy for her. But, also worried because it could be a g-single. I hope not, because I just started oshi-ing Kakki this year
Too bad Runa left Senbatsu. I hope she get better position in under.
Now, I hope we get a great summer song and MV. Need another beach MV like Hadashi.

 

If you gonna have such a surprising 1st row with Miku and Sakutan just make them center for the full blown surprise. This seems like being afraid to commit to something new.

Kakki is obviously never a bad choice but just like Nagi last year it feels too much trying to play it safe territory.

I don't disagree with the smaller senbatsu but Runa should have been safeeee.

And this is what I thought too. Lol. But nogi management always did think differently than mine hahaha. Their decision always kinda like that. Maybe they think with this, they get more profit from outside the group? Another source of income, instead making mao, ikuta & mizuki focus only inside the group activity? And they have successfully make other 5ki member, aka nagi, into new pillar. (Just like asuka and endo at that time) While nagi lead the group, mao can generate income from outside the group

Since they have money maker without relying too much on group name. Nevertheless, it's good for the member herself since they can graduate and still have job later.

at this moment, nagi already has surpassed kakki popularity and surprisingly endo too (Endo momentum is lost). Currently, The only member has some hype on internet on par with nagi is mao. And we also have promising member like teresa and surprisingly again aruno. (But nagi and mao is still on different level than them based on graphic aka youtube search, google search and x search ranking)

Tamura down to unders is mind boggling. Expected yanchan and iroha to be back to unders but Runa was slightly unexpected given her much improved meguri sales
Congrats to OkaHina, she deserves a chance . Hopefully yakubo gets a chance soon too with 6th gen coming in and competition heating up

Looking at the formation and Kaki back at center, I too have the same thought as @Mana about Miku and Kawasaki. Why not make them center if they're gonna put them in front? It's because they weren't meant to be center. Even Teresa who was placed front in 2 consecutive single. I now have doubt about her becoming center. Although Aya might still have that chance in the future but only because she's still young.

I don't want to sound too negative but imo they have pushed Endo and Kaki far too long. This single and Hodokyou, I think it's Nogizaka playing it too safe. I won't be surprised if they go back to Nagi or Aruno for their 40th single.

Hopefully it's gonna be a good song. Well probably gonna be similar to KimiShika and SukiRock. But we'll see.

 

Bit miffed about Mao being pushed to the back row, but at least she's at the center of said row. Though she's not part of the fukujin for this single, I take it her popularity overall is good, especially based on the amount of outside jobs she's got? So that she's not in danger of being pushed out of senbatsu next time?

Though would've wished to see a new summer center, Kaki's smile is always lovely to see, and glad to see Miku and Sakura flanking her.

 

I'm surprised that Mayu is not in senbatsu. Has she lost so much popularity? What happened?
